Apple has posted video of this morning’s iPhone 4 press conference which held at Apple’s campus in Cupertino, California:
Watch the video, which includes Jonathan Mann’s “The iPhone Antenna Song” with which Apple opened their press conference (also embedded below), here.
Apple also invites website visitors to view demonstrations of smartphone antenna performance and view Apple’s testing facilities.
As Apple explains, the opposite of amplification, attenuation happens whenever a signal is obstructed. All antennas — including television, radio, GPS, and cellular antennas — can experience attenuation. And with most antennas, the density and composition of the human hand can cause attenuation to a greater degree than some other materials. On a mobile phone, signal loss typically occurs when your hand attenuates the most sensitive part of the antenna.
In photos and videos, Apple demonstrates how different grips cause attenuation on many smartphones: BlackBerry Bold 9700, HTC Droid Eris, Samsung Omnia II, iPhone 4, and iPhone 3GS.
See the photos and videos here.
Brilliant song at the beginning… This guy’s going to get a huge jump in YouTube subscriptions. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
Everyone now…!
“If you don’t want an iPhone 4…
— don’t buy it.
If you bought one and you don’t like it…
— bring it back.
(but you know you won’t)”
Steve (about a Windows Mobile phone): “The display goes dark quickly, they’re trying to save battery life.”
Ahahahaha.
Steve, you’re the man!!!!! I just love this guy…. And his company!!!!
Is it just me, or does the Apple ‘antenna testing facility’ look an awful lot like Cerebro from the X-Men?
Could we finally have found the source of Our Lord Jobs’s ‘Reality Distortion Field’?
Okay the video cuts out before the Q&A..
Is there a source for the Q&A?
BTW: The Song is way awesome.
Another exceptionally effective presentation by Steve Jobs. He “admitted” there was a problem without actually saying there was a real world problem. And he did it convincingly.
Apple needed to fix the perception, not the reception – SUCCESS.
I want the Q&A too. Damm that’s great musical quality. Did That guy do the music?
Btw, if more than 99% of poeple have no problems, then these people may like Apple MORE. Because they will think Apple is being picked on unfairly.

“Jobs For the Defense”… a Quinn Martin Production
Awesome job Steve. A few key points backed by revealing facts. wrapped in a heartfelt Valentine to all Apple users.
It was painful to watch.
Everything that needed to be said was revealed before Jobs took the stage.
Funny that the video music is from Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue”.
The tune is “Freddie Freeloader”. Pretty apt if you ask me.
The whole thing has next to nothing to do with realiity and EVERYTHING to do with competitors trying (and PAYING “journalists”) to make Apple and the iPhone 4 look bad.
Great presentation. Jobs at his best!
One thing I could tell… He was PISSED. And Rightfully!
Hopefully this will silence the whiners, shills and ‘droid users.
Better get yours soon, before the make the problem go away entirely and you will not be able to demonstrate it to your friends!
Did you catch the BP dig? “It’s not like we’ve had our heads in the sand for 3 months” Ha!
The additional call drops may just result from people trying out the “death grip”. I would, seeing all the media hoopla.
The grip used to attenuate the iPhone 4 (& Blackberry) has been erroneously been named the “death grip” by ill-prepared media. If they had done even 5 minutes of research, they would have discovered that it is actually called the “mechanic’s grip” and it’s used by every single magician when performing card tricks, and has been for ages. When facing deadlines, seldom is the truth reported.
