Apple CEO Steve Jobs unaware of iOS 4 battery drain issues?

iphone 4 cases“Apple CEO Steve Jobs is either unaware of battery drain caused by upgrading older handhelds to iOS 4, or dismissive of it, information from a Norwegian journalist suggests,” MacNN reports.

“Jarle Aasland explains that he recently sent e-mail to Jobs complaining about the battery performance of his iPhone 3GS,” MacNN reports. “‘Any reason battery performance on a 3GS running iOS4 should be worse than it was running OS3?’ Aasland wrote.”

  1. Tired of these random email replies, I don’t believe them anymore, they can come from anyone.

As for battery issues, I have not seen any on my 3G, however, I have noticed my phone is much more sluggish.

  2. What battery drain issue?

My old 3GS battery life improved. I gave it to a buddy of mine and he even mentioned he could go all day with it in comparison to his old 3G.

  3. I upgraded my iPhone 3G (not S) to 4.0 and have not seen any difference in battery life – neither better nor worse. Of course I’m not multi-tasking so really the only benefit has been the app folders!! Love em

  4. I upgraded my iPod touch and it is always dead. I had it connected for the last 2 days, ejected it and went to work. I just tried to turn it on 4.5 hours after disconnecting it and the battery is dead. The last time I tried to use it, the battery was dead as was the time before that, all since I upgraded it to v4.

It hasn’t been used since the upgrade since I have an iPad and have been playing with that.

It appears there is a battery drain issue.

  5. Well, I am still waiting for my iPhone for while using my 3G but would surmise that the more apps there are running in the background on any iPhone the more the battery will be called upon.

Just who is this idiot in Norway – any expertise other than ability to use a keyboard?

  6. I haven’t noticed any unusual battery drain on my 3Gs since updating to iOS4, but I have seen some sluggishness if I have a lot of apps residing in the multitasking bar. Yeah, I know… most of them aren’t really running there in the background, but wiping everything off that list does resolve the sluggishness.

  7. My wife’s iPhone 3G will stay in 3.X. The advantages that 4.0 bring to the table are simply to meager balanced against it’s disadvantages. If you think about it, they made it compatible enough, but it is truly optimized for the new hardware.

  8. what battery drain “issue”?? no problem here, 3GS w/iOS4 – battery life at least same as before

BTW, I’m waiting to see someone send an email to Steve Jobs that goes like this:

“Steve, are these email replies popping up all over the internet REALLY from you?”

    to which he answers:

    “Nope.”

  9. Okay, I am this >< close to believing that almost everyone in the world is fucking retarded. What’s next? “Did Steve Jobs know that iPhone 3GS cases don’t fit the iPhone 4?” “Did Steve Jobs know that his new iPhone 4 requires a new OS?” “Did Steve Jobs know that the new screen doesn’t let you see the pixels at 12″?”

Where was all this hysteria when Microsoft was ushering in the Dark Ages of computing? Where was the non-stop worldwide assault on Microsoft for ushering in the age of viruses, trojans, malware and botnets?

In the words of Ellen Ripley “Did IQs drop sharply while I was away?”
