Apple’s iPad. Will it blend? That is the question, here is the answer:

MacDailyNews Take: Your device hasn’t really arrived until BlendTec’s Tommy Dickson checks to see if it blends.
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “Chris C.” for the heads up.]
I am suddenly feeling sick to my stomach.
That was so sad.
Tastes like lithium.
Painful to watch
There’s a world of difference between hacking an iPad and blending one.
I just got this sick feeling in my stomach.

Damn you Dave, you just beat me to the punch line.
I feel there’s been a great disturbance in the Force.
Is it just me or have we reached the point where this really isn’t funny anymore? At what point does the joke cease being amusing when the punchline is the same and you are only changing the characters in the joke?
asinine.
I guess I’m getting to old, WHY would you do this, what point does it make.
Needs lime.
What PR wisely said. Truly, truly stupid.
This is just wrong….. on so many levels.
This is disgusting. There are suffering children in Africa with netbooks who would gladly take that iPad.
What an absolute moron. I want to throw him in a blender. Waste of life.
$500 in the iBank. Could I interest you in a few more, sir?
OH THE HUMANITY!!!
These Blendtec people were at Costco in St. Louis on Saturday doing a demo of their blenders and making soup and ice cream. I’d never heard of them before, but took their name down to research their product. Well, this sold it for me — there’s NO WAY I’d get one of their blenders now. No way. They don’t seem reputable after seeing this kind of nonsense.
*speechless*
Oh look! it’s sunny outside!
Brilliant marketing. Sure, sad to destroy something so beautiful, but that’s exactly why you’ll always remember their own product … which really does blend everrrrryyythhhhiiing.
500 bucks buys massive publicity and geek-cred. That’s cheap advertising, folks.
Did anyone else notice that as he smashed the ( moment of silence) Ipad, the keyboard was still on the display even though the screen was allmost folded in half? That is the true test of strength and durability of apple products. I still say we kick his ass for his ipad abuse issues.
So, will the idiot file a lawsuit with Apple due to the fumes he just inhaled? Maybe if he is hit by a small iPad fragment because it would not fit in his blender?
Idiot! At least wear a mask and tell the kids not to do this at home.
Yes, you are officially old. Lighten up. Apple products are cool, kick ass, and amazing. Not humorless.
It is getting a little old, but having to “hack” (as Monger put it) the iPad to blend it added some fun.
Did you all notice how tuff the iPad was? The idiot had it folded and the iPad was still working. I think if you just drop a Dell or HP they stop. Sometimes, Windows will kill it before the blend test.
There goes the warranty.
Very hard to watch – still in shock.
And yes- the starving children… Just what will cure them- an iPad; stay away from that sandwich kid- come here and look at these cool photos.
sent from my iPad
Hmmmphhh
I happen to have some 2 inch diameter hardened steel balls that I’d like them to try to blend.
This is crap.
I’d like to see what this guy would do with the iClub — as in I club him in the stomach for destroying a perfectly wonderful iPad.
BUT!
you gotta admit… that’s some snappy smoke u got there
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />
And that guy, I am sure it must be blended after all we have seen so far.
This guy’s going to have serious diseases from inhaling vaporized glass and aluminum into his lungs. A really really bad idea…
I watched all his vids one time and still like him . He is funny dud.
When he smashed it and bended, it still worked!
I’ve met some idiots before, but this takes the cake. Does this man have personal development problems?
I found the iphone one to be so stupid. This one is four times as stupid.
@ Roger:
You’ve got to be kidding me. You’re basing whether or not to buy the blender on the fact that they blended up an iPad?!?!? And the fact that the blender actually DOES blend up metal and plastic didn’t sell you, but the soup almost did? They hit on a clever marketing strategy, that’s all.
FWIW, we have a BlendTec blender and it’s fantastic. Makes great ice cream in 45 seconds.
And the Chuck Norris “Will It Blend?” is the best!
Someone bring the paddles, QUICKLY!
My heart just stopped.
This is the penultimate sacrilege!!!
Hmmm… shame about the iPad but the blender sure is tough.
Pity the blender is not a more attractive product though… why not get Ive and Co to give it a decent industrial design overhaul?
Then I might consider giving it kitchen space.
geez. some of youse guys are taking this waaay too seriously.
first, it’s just an iPad. it’s not living and it’s not an idol.
next, in trying to make a point about how tough his blenders are he showed how tough an iPad is! the screen was totally shattered and it was nearly bent 45 degrees… and it was still working!
then, its supposed to be hokey and corny… that’s the joke! i cracked up! (okay, my tastes in comedy are a little juvenile… sosumi!)
lastly, this guy chooses the best electronics items to blend. if he blended a Zune no one would care.
so, that being said, this ad has done two things for me…
1) makes me want an iPad even more as i’m not so worried about its durability. will buy one as soon as i can scrape up the dough… and….
2) makes me want that blender! it chews up ‘phones, ‘pods n’ ‘pads… should make short work of foodstuffs.
and THAT is what you call effective advertising…
obnoxious. period. obnoxious.
Just need a moment to collect me thoughts….
Nope, still can’t figure out why you would do that.
Those sick bastards should try a Quad Core all aluminum G5. See if the blender survives that monster.
This plays to the worst image of Americans. Waste, lack of concern, no appreciation of value.
What a moron. What a waste.
Jeezus- FIVE hits against the blender, screen splintered to hell, and the keyboard was still on.
Vita-Mix blender is better.
Why? WHY DIDN’T HE JUST GIVE IT TO ME? I’ll have to wait 3 weeks for an iPad that’ll probably cost $750 where I live and thus my dad won’t let me buy it…. oh so sad world
Where is asswipe Greenpeace now? LOL!
I’ll be more impressed if he drinks the whole thing down. And it’d be funnier if his hand slips into the blender accidentally like Jackass dorks would do. But this is just boring.
The grin on that guy’s face half way through the blending is truly diabolical. I was also amazed to see the screen still function after some major folding abuse. Tough iPad, tough blender.
“This plays to the worst image of Americans. Waste, lack of concern, no appreciation of value.”
Oh- you mean like the guys that cut off people’s heads or fly planes into buildings. Us unappreciative, evil Americans. Shame on us.
Fuck off.
Kids, stop and think. This video will go viral, just like the previous one BlendTec did with the iPhone. Apple knows this. In fact, Apple’s PR team gave the iPhones to Tom Dickson for this very reason. And I have a hunch they did the same thing here. The viral PR that resulted helped both companies incredibly. Consumer recall of BlendTec skyrocketed, and it had a similar positive result for consumer awareness of the iPhone. My hunch is that the result, however gross it may be for you, will increase consumer awareness of and interest in the iPad.
PR and marketing often work in strange ways. But Apple’s marketing and PR teams are smart enough to understand the value of free publicity and viral marketing.
Let’s put it this way: that iPad died a hero.
I just saw a vid on youtube where some idiot kids took a base ball bat to an ipad outside a Best buy…what a waste of time and money. goes to show how (like cocaine does) some people have way too much money…
The concept of blending seems to lost on the BlendTec people. What was the iPad blended with? Stupidity?
I wouldn’t let him near my hardened 2 inch steel. …….
@Fitz, Yes, I felt the power of the dark side.
BTW I own a blendtec blender and I will tell you it IS THE BEST blender I have ever owner. It is to blending what Apple is to computers. An experience!
All you retards moaning about the waste are ignoring the cost of advertising these days. Blendtec couldn’t have purchased this kind of exposure for the price of an iPad. These guys have discovered a great way to virally promote their product on the cheap. It’s genius…and a bargain to boot.
That is so stupid on so many levels. What exactly was the point of this video?
Awesome. Amazing how many people don’t get the point of the iPad frappé. Personally, I felt that it showed the massive amount of abuse that the iPad can withstand and still work (albeit with a destroyed screen). It also made my wife want one of those blenders.
What a f@cking idiot
MDN, if any video deserves a TV-MA rating, that one does
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”shut eye” style=”border:0;” />
Will Tom Dickson blend? that guy should blended!
I don’t know, but to me it looks like the folded iPad he put in the container did not include the aluminum back case; just the screen and maybe other internals.
