The Telegraph reports, “Steve Jobs, Apple’s chief executive, doesn’t often answer emails from his customers but when he does his replies are short and blunt. Here’s our top five.”
• Will iPad would support ‘tethering?’ No.
• Where are the MacBook Pro and Mac Pro updates? Not to worry.
• Will iPad support Google’s Picasa? No, but iPhoto on the Mac has much better Faces and Places features.
• Your lawyers say ‘iPodRip’ infringes on your trademark. Can you help? Change your app’s name. Not that big of a deal.
• I have to pay Apple to see if my water-damaged MacBook Pro can be fixed? This is what happens when your MacBook Pro sustains water damage. They are pro machines and they don’t like water. It sounds like you’re just looking for someone to get mad at other than yourself.

MacDailyNews Take: Not only doesn’t Jobs suffer fools gladly, he’s extremely efficient.
He was just a little too long winded on #5. He should’ve just answered. “Yes, because it was your fault.” That would’ve been more efficient.

#5 is my favorite! LOL! I would love to get verbally beatin’ down by Jobs, that’d be the shit! As much as I respect the guy,I’d have to laugh in his face due to the fact it was actually happening to me!
Yeah, maybe SJ should end his posts with a
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />
I also wouldn’t mind takin’ a Mike Tyson punch just to say I did…
I’d like to watch one of his product demos live but I don’t think I’d like to join him for lunch.
Sitting with him over veggie burgers and a glass of California’s finest Chardonnay would be terrifying.
SJ isn’t rude in my opinion, when you’re a CEO and some yeehaw writes to you expecting you to drop everything and respond – the tables arent in your favor.
Boom!
(that was short and blunt BTW)
My favorite was “BOW BEFORE JOBS”
Terrifying? Really? I would happily lunch with Mr. Jobs if there was a glass of California’s finest at stake. I think Steve is one of the most grounded and thoughtful people on Earth. He doesn’t just react, he seems to think. He’s pretty smart so he probably does this very fast compared to, say, me. His brevity demonstrates spectacular restraint, too, in exactly the way my post does not.
I would have framed the e-mail response no matter what it was….
MacDailyNews Take: Not only doesn’t Jobs suffer fools gladly, he’s extremely efficient.
Translation: Steve’s a prick, but we love him anyway.
Extremely efficient and to the point.
With the amount of e-mails he receives each day I myself see no need to elaborate. He does have a life outside of Apple I’m sure.
You mean I can’t take my MacBook Pro, iPhone, iPad, … into the pool? I did not see a No Pool or Bathtub sticker on the box. Maybe the MacBook Pro should also come with a Child-proof locking device too. Does that also mean that the iPad can’t be used to serve pizza on?
I think someone is missing the big picture here. Steve Jobs needs his own network show to pacify the masses who want to experience a verbal beat down by the man.
Or how about a 30min weekly podcast where he just chats with one of his buddies? That would fill a few years of content.
The first and last ones are my favorites! hahaha
Let’s face it, isn’t he just doing what we all wish we could do in our day to day jobs when people cheese us off?
Money, power and status can be a beautiful thing.
#5 was Eric Schmidt
I’d like to join him for lunch as long as I wasn’t an employee. Talk about art, architecture, design, travel, literature, history, and culture.
I know two people who used to be in meetings with him, and they say that, like with any visionary, he can be very impatient with those who cannot see what he does. But if you do get it, it’s okay.
Can you imagine how many emails he gets from the public, and how he has to actually see them to respond?
I consider his responses to be a point of humor, as well as informational. For instance: I have taken the “Not to worry.” quip to heart, since it has somewhat calmed my impatience for the needed update of the product line. . . .
I really want a new MBP with the i7.
Writing an email question to Steve Jobs is like shaking a Magic 8 Ball!
He probably has a suite of templates, from which he sends a response, by selecting the appropriate template from a drop-down list.
That Apple customer care is so good with a role model CEO like this.
Actually, I think he responded correctly as well in these instances. Of course you alone are responsible for drowning your Mac!
awesome, just awesome.
Amazing (Not):
It’s NOT amazing that Apple customer care is so good with a role model like Jobs. When you summarily show the whiners and pretenders the door you have lots of resources left with which to really help those with a legitimate problem.
Wasn’t #6 reply, “No soup for you!”
Man shall not live upon bread alone, but by every word that Steve Jobs speaks.
I’m astonished that he bothered with any end-user questions. Imagine Bill Gates or Steve Balmer doing this. It’s fun to imagine, but it would never ever happen. No CEO in the world bothers with end-users. Steve actually seems to care somewhat. Perhaps this is the secret ingredient. I would like to think so.
“Not only does not Jobs suffer fools gladly, he’s extremely efficient.” – so when did MDN hire Yoda as a writer/editor?
Stop worshipping Jobs like he’s a demi-god or your master.
Go and do some impressive shit yourself and change the world.
Sheesh!
It’s refreshing to see such minimalist literalism.
Steve says it all..short and sweet. Whatever he steals, works for him, and that’s who it’s all about.
I emailed him once. He didn’t respond, but he did do what I asked.
Only better.
