As for DK they have seen this future for 20 years, their books will look sensational in this format, set free at last to fulfil their true potential. I suspect there is massive excitement in their offices and thankfully now free from Microsoft who quite clearly did not share their vision. No change there then.
Not too sure about kids, they’ll throw the ipad across the room to see if theres any change in effect of spotty

When I picked up my newspaper at my front door this morning, i though: “Gee! I should be counting down to the first paperless (as opposed to news-free) day sometime at the end of this month.”

my two and a half year old can use an iPhone, without damaging it – she can start Donald cartoons on Youtube and play some of the easier games (Traffic Rush is her favorite). I feel the touch ui from the iPhone is much easier to use than those clunky gamepads/controllers you find with specialy-for-kids-so-called-“learning”-computertoys…
Well that helps solidify my future purchase of an iPad. It’s great to see how much fun some of these companies are having re-creating what they already have just for the iPad. There is no way other competitors will be able to match apples UI on this what so ever.
And just to think that was only showing some books. The game is just starting ladies and gents.
Doesn’t the paint app show exactly what MDN has been saying iPod/iPad can’t do (and using as a justification for why Flash is useless on the device)? The finger clicks to pick a color, then hover/moves the brush, and clicks to apply it.

Apple only recently did a patent effort vs a “hover” function. #1
The flash developer said that FLASH software was the problem. It could not convert mac touch movements without making mouse movements a problem. Its the “too many cooks in the kitchen” problem. Apple has one cook …. cloned into many kitchens, so they all work together very well.

Kids damaging the iPad by throwing it around? I’m sure some enterprising case maker will make one out of brightly colored rubber with big chunky easy to hold edges (maybe featuring animals, or dinosaurs – that’s what young kids go for these days) that’ll protect it from damage

Penguin reinvented the book decades ago when they invented the paperback. Now they’re doing it again.
I’m waiting to read my favorite child’s book on my iPad.

I think I’ll give iPads to my grandchildren for their birthdays.
I love Paris but will someone please show other cities to demonstrate travel apps.

I challenge you to get the Flash off your OWN Site. Sure, it will cost you a few $$$ in ad revenue. So? Stick to your principles or keep quiet about them!
