  1. Issue resolved. Changing permissions on just the Ap library file didn’t work. So, I selected external drive where Ap library is stored, opened Get Info window, deleted and added back user account with read & write permissions, then selected Apply to Enclosed Items. Presto! Back to work.

FYI, I had installed the ProKit and RAW Support updates, so I’m not sure which caused the issue. Had been working on the library immediately prior to installation, so it is clear that the issue was caused by one of those two updates.

Re: “It Just Works” – OS X is nearly flawless in this regard. Permissions are the one remaining area of weakness. Problems are exceedingly rare, but annoying nonetheless.

  2. On the contrary, my Aperture 3 library is just plain snappier – using just 0.1% of CPU and 400mb of memory.

Happy Aperture days are here again…

@Majikthize – do you mean to tell me you didn’t have backups?!?!

  3. @Macaday

Yes, I had backups. Several, in fact. I have separate daily, weekly and monthly backups of my Aperture libraries and clones of my boot drive. Old, small external drives come in handy for this. I’d done a couple hours of Ap work this morning that hadn’t been backed up yet, though.

  4. U bet it just works

    I all my Mac OS updates since 1984, I have had this many problems….. wait….. wait…. 0
