  1. Great firmware update. After spending $ for a solid state drive it always seemed ridiculous for the SuperDrive to noisily start up at every wakening. Now it seems even faster to go from sleep to wake, or to restart, and much quieter.

  2. Late 2008 15″ Macbook Pro:

No more optical drive mooing noise when waking from sleep, but still get it on startup and probably on shutdown too.

Sure is nice not to hear it otherwise though! Wow. This has annoyed me for ages.

  3. After installing the update, now the disks that I used very recently will not mount on the drive. And when I try to mount them using Disk Utility, I am told there is something wrong with the disk and to try Disk Doctor on them. Really? All of them? Since Monday?

  4. Lotsofluck: after installing the firmware update…I am having problems mounting any type of data DVD….apple store denys its the firmware update that caused the problem…I thought I was the only one with this issue. The “genius bar” wants to charge me for replacing the drive….bunch of idiots…if anyone have this problem…appreciate a response
