Consumers warned to beware of fake ‘iPhone nanos’

“Consumers are being warned to be on the lookout for fake iPhone nanos, despite the real thing not even being released,” BBC News reports.

“It was rumored that Apple might be announcing a new, smaller iPhone at this year’s Macworld conference,” The Beeb reports. “As a result, counterfeiters in the Far East started producing replica iPhone Nanos, replete with Apple logo.”

“However, other than a 17-inch Macbook Pro, there was no other hardware announced during the keynote address, meaning the only iPhone Nano you can buy is fake,” The Beeb reports. “Fake iPhone Nanos started appearing in Thailand just after Christmas, replete with ‘official’ Apple logo and iPhone branding and there are reports that they have started to appear in European shops.”

  1. I don’t think the author of this article understands what the word “replete” means.

The definition is: filled or well-supplied with something

The way he/she wrote this article makes me think that there are Apple logos all over the thing. Actually, that would be nice, because then you’d knowi it was a fake : )

Uh, yeah. Ha ha ha. Snort. Woo.

I’m pretty sure there is an alternate way to get software on your iPhone. You don’t need to use the app store. It’s just the most convenient way.

Oh, and the crack about the non-user-replaceable battery? Pure comedy gold. For 2001. Sheesh.

  3. @Reality Check- You’re still whining about a non-user replaceable battery? Hasn’t it borne out that the lack of a user battery compartment is a good thing? Look at how much slimmer such designs are. And lets get real about this, most people replace their cell phone long before the battery gives out.

  4. Here’s my question, what software runs on these?? Not that I want a fake iPhone Nano but I am curious if its the real iPhone software that was ripped from an existing iPhone or Windows Mobile or even some other odd hybrid OS that they concocted…

  5. I’ve seen photos of them somewhere, can’t remember where though. And I for one was fairly certain there would be no iPhone Nano, because it doesn’t make sense. The barriers to selling the iPhone don’t include size. They really don’t even include price. It’s the fact that you have to go AT&T;and you have to pay 100/month for a contract.

How many people do you hear saying that the iPhone is too big? Or that it’s too expensive?

    Yeah, that’s what I thought.
