“E-voting technology has come a long way since the 2000 U.S. presidential election, when voting equipment problems erased an estimated 1.5 million votes during one of the closest elections in U.S. history,” Robert McMillan reports for IDG News Service. “But progress has zig-zagged. After Congress passed the 2002 Help America Vote Act (HAVA), counties spent billions of dollars upgrading to new electronic voting machines, many of which have now been dumped because they were unusable or, worse still, untrustworthy.”
“California and Florida, for example, have mostly abandoned e-voting systems in favor of optical scan machines where a paper ballot is scanned into a computer, leaving a paper record of the vote that can be manually recounted in the event of an audit,” McMillan reports. “That’s the gold standard, voting experts say: voting machines that use paper ballots that are routinely audited for errors.”
McMillan reports, “And while election observers say that more people will vote on paper ballots using optical scan machines than did in 2004, there is still room for plenty of e-voting glitches this year in a race that could have the highest turnout in 100 years. Here are a few things that could go wrong with electronic voting on Nov. 4.”

After spending four hours at the VA today getting treatment on the legs I sacrificed for your freedoms, rights and liberties, I find it disheartening the lengths that Democrats have gone to, to steal this election. Their candidate can’t win it on his own, so at every level they have lied, cheated and stole to win this election. I will never vote for any Democrat again because to be part of this evil racist party makes you as bad as the ones running your party and doing these things. From hiring ACORN, to hiring the New Black Panther Party, to Obama lying about his birth, to registering people criminally, to voting multiple times, to keeping the military from having their votes count, to having voting info wrongly in booths, to voter intimidation, we see what hte criminal element of the Democratic party will do to ensure victory. The mainstream media has lost all credibility, too, by covering up for Obama and never asking him one tough question. If he is elected, I will laugh in the face of every Democrat that loses their jobs due to Obama’s socialist policies. I will no longer donate to help out places like Habitat for Humanity and other programs that go to lazy Dems. I will continue to drive my SUV while you people are scrambling after COngress re-enacts the no drill and gas goes back up to $4.

He has been thoroughly grilled by seasoned journalists of all stripes. The difference was just that he was actually capable of responding with topical and well-considered answers where others (of any party) usually just have a few recycled platitudes.
His apparent ease in dealing with the extensive and intense scrutiny he was subjected to has nothing to do with a lack of toughness in the questions but rather with his quite uncommon strength in dealing with them.
As a veteran you could do a whole lot worse than with him, and you probably do already. I wish you all the best and hope the VA will be improved both in funding and administration. Many veterans returning home into homelessness and/or being abandoned instead of treated when they need it as they are apparently doing now is a disgrace.
You may not respect Obama at this point, but you should at least afford him the benefit of your doubt. It would be the honourable thing to do.

Actually, if you were worried about ‘breading grounds’ (sic) for terrorism, you’d acknowledge the culpability of the party that you supported creating those terrorists in the first place, firstly by treating Osama bin Laden as a ‘freedom fighter’ and secondly by explicitly supporting Saddam Hussein during the Iran/Iraq war.
