Must be new models coming out soon!
WOOWWW!, they are cleaning to get room for the new Macbooks and imacs…… I hope.
For the past two years since I’ve been monitoring refurbs closely, this was pretty much the normal pricing.
Current models would get 15 -17% discount, previous ones around 20% and above.
I’m curious why MDN suddenly decided to put this out.
Most of the time, all current models are available as refurbished, at same discount. Occasionally, they’ll disappear from the list of offerings, but a week or so later, they’ll be back.
My last seven Mac purchases were refurbs. Together, they have saved be upwards of $1,000 over brand new. The only thing I didn’t get with them was a nicely printed white box and molded styrofoam inside it. Everything else was brand new, looked and smelled like new.
They are posting it because they get click-thru revenue from it, especially any sales. Don’t worry, next purchase will be clicked thru here I promise!
Clearing Inventory.
Pre drag,
You should complain. Mine not only looked like new but came in new boxes with everything newly packed.
I guess they felt I was a “new” bie. !!

Just a punnie thought.

I am ducking now. Hurricane Ike is scheduled to come thru here on Sat at noon, still a hurricane. Should be interesting.

Apple’s version of what is a “deal” differs quite a bit from the rest of the world! How about 50%? Now THAT is a deal.
> How about 50%?
Obviously, Apple does not need to resort to such measures.
The original iPod touch for $179 is the best deal on the page. Are physical volume controls, tiny speaker, and voice recording (with extra cost special headphones) worth paying $50 more for the 2G? Maybe, maybe not…
I’m going with the clearing inventory argument. I looked at the prices of refurb MacBooks a few days ago, right when everyone started saying wait for Oct 14, and they had a bunch of models, 2.1GHz, 2.16GHz previous gen, and black or white 2.4GHz current gens. Guess they started selling out.
Up until a few days ago I was going to get a new MacBook 2.1 this weekend, but now I’ll take my chances and wait.
A pet peeve of mine is how on their refurb site, their “was” price is the original original price… when it first came out. For example, the 23″ Cinema display says “was $1999”, when in fact, it’s now $899 new.
Apple doesn’t do much that annoys me, but that is really obnoxious. You have to go look at the regular current price to get an accurate comparison. They really should change that.
new boxes?!? Nah, my refurbs from Apple always come in brown boxes, without the original packing.
Speaking of clearing out inventory, I’ll be right back…..
If this is a signal that new Macs are about to ship, then it’s time to buy some AAPL.
I’m just fine with the claims that the iPod and iPhone have created interest in Macs and at least partly the reason for switching. But, now for the real thing.
Now it’s time for Apple to really charge into that vast market with Macs that are truly so phenomenal in speed, stability and reliability that they literally swamp MSoft with technology the Windows world can’t touch.
While you won’t find me standing in any line for a iPod or phone no matter how snazzy, I’ll do it for a Mac that is finally all that it can and should be! So will millions of others, including corporate America.
