Apple today sent our an invitation to media outlets for a special event to be held next week.
An invitation for the September 9th event, set for San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (whose calendar has been conspicuously blank for September 9th), is headlined “Let’s Rock.”
The invitation shows an iPod screen showing a silhouetted dancer holding an iPod with the text:

To those that only seem to read from this site: there will be no macbooks at this event. It has been suggested from the same source that got the info for this sep. 9th event that a seperate event for macbooks would be in October.

No more basic ipod. All ipods come with 2,5 g phone with pre-paid sim option (except maybe ipod shuffle). Great way to get new customers.
the rumor mill in IP (from my anonymous firm) is that this is for new iPods, possible a new form factor for iPod touch, also a new wi-fi nano which basiclly moves the click wheel to a mult-touch function on the screen, and the screen takes up the entire face – but remain about the size of the last nano… for waht it’s worth, the IP group rumors have been wrong more than they’ve been right

But, Noooooo……
The current nano seems almost ideal to me. I am intrigued by the idea of approximately maintaining the 4G nano form factor, but maximizing the screen dimensions with a multi-touch interface (iPod touch nano?). I don’t want to take the multi-touch theme too far – I’d still like a physical control for volume, for instance.
It would probably need to be a bit thicker than the current nano to accommodate additional battery capacity to support a bigger display. It would be very nice to have GPS, as well, but that may be asking too much.

iAm dreamming Apple will also cut the price of the touch which is far to high as compared to the iPhone. iBelive i might by an iPod touch, if they update it, add memory, and reduce the price. iHope so.
