Apple has expanded its Self Service Repair program to cover the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its newest desktop Macs, giving eligible customers the option to buy genuine replacement parts, tools, and access official repair manuals for do-it-yourself fixes.
The update, which took effect around October 20, 2026, adds the recently released flagship iPhones along with Mac Studio models equipped with M5 Max or M5 Ultra chips and Mac mini models with M6 or M5 Pro chips. Parts and tools are available through Apple’s Self Service Repair Store in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
For the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, customers can now order components including the back glass, battery, rear camera, display, front camera, enclosure, logic board, speakers (top and bottom), main microphone, SIM tray, and Taptic Engine. Associated tools and supplies—such as adhesive cutters, suction cups, nylon probes, torque drivers, and screws—are listed alongside each repair and can also be purchased separately. A seven-day rental of a specialized toolkit is offered for $49.
Pricing for some key parts matches prior generations despite hardware updates. The rear camera module, which features a new variable-aperture system, is listed at $249; returning the original unit yields a $59.76 credit, bringing the net cost to $189.24. A replacement display is priced at $329, and back glass at $159, with smaller credits available for returned cores in some cases. Additional small parts such as screws or cowlings may add modest extra cost.
On the Mac side, the M5 Max/Ultra Mac Studio receives a broader selection that includes Thunderbolt and USB-C ports, fans, speakers, SSD modules, logic boards, and power supplies. The Mac mini lineup has a more limited catalog covering items such as fans, speakers, logic boards, batteries, and power supplies. Official step-by-step repair manuals for all the newly supported devices are available online at no charge.
Apple launched the Self Service Repair program in 2022 in response to growing right-to-repair interest. It is aimed at customers and independent technicians with the technical skill and experience to perform certain repairs themselves rather than visiting an Apple Store or authorized provider. The company notes that the store is operated by a third-party provider authorized to sell genuine Apple parts and tools.
While the expansion gives more owners of the latest hardware a path to official components, practical savings can be limited once tool rental, shipping, incidental parts, and the time required for careful disassembly and reassembly are factored in. Many users are still likely to rely on professional service for complex repairs. The move nonetheless continues Apple’s gradual, device-by-device broadening of self-repair options for its current lineup.
