  1. Still can’t sync ical calendar subscriptions! They don’t show up on the web interface either. Apple missed BIG on that one.

Also can’t sync the notes that are made on my iPhone with my iMac. What is going on Apple? Those are BIG oversights and the Apple Forums are filling up fast.

I have used MobileMe since it was called iTools but am not ready to drop it. I was really hoping it would work and have been patient with the rollout.

  2. It really does seem like Apple bit off a mouthful with this huge rollout. But it sure seems like they’re working overtime to get it all fixed, too. High profile stuff, and high risk/reward.

There were definitely a few first day glitches, but I love the iPhone 2.0, and I’m not one bit of sorry about a little craziness getting started. I would hardly call myself the typical consumer, but then how many people buying a product on Day One are typical?

  3. I read in another forum that if it’s not showing up in software update then go to Preferences and then click on the .mac icon. After a few seconds, a dialogue box comes up prompting you to update to mobileme 1.1. This does replace the icon with the new cloud icon and everything that said .mac to MobileMe.

  4. Is it just me, or are other people still having trouble logging into MobileMe through a browser?

I keep getting “invalid member name or password” at the log-in window. However, my email is fine, the sync services are working (albeit a bit slowly – I have a MBP, a desktop and an iPhone sync’d together), my iDisk mounts, and I can get at the public folder via a browser.

It isn’t critical that I have browser access (altho I can’t even access my account setting without it), but I would love to take a look at the online apps.

  5. This update came out two days ago for me, not sure why it’s a “new article” this morning.

In any case, it just changes the icon in system preferences and does nothing else. So for those (like me) that are still having major, major problems with mobileme, back to my mac, etc. this will do nothing at all.

For me, mobileme is *mostly* working, but working so slowly that it’s completely unusable. Notably, it’s impossible to use an email program when every click (like a deletion), takes literally three to four seconds to register, and when automatic deletions, mail rules, and moving things to junk mail folders etc., all take about 15 seconds to execute, and may execute before, or after the deletions you have just attempted, giving the very ripe possibility of errant deletions, moves, etc.

This is just poor programming. If any action in the interface is going to take even a full second, then the interface should be frozen for that second while it happens. This is standard stuff. Perhaps Apple doesn’t believe that people are experiencing the incredible slowness that they are?

Also, just to continue the gripe, … mobile me destroyed half my contacts (which were fine for years in .Mac), you can’t drag and drop folders anymore, junk mail filtering is just mysteriously gone, etc. etc. etc.

Worst Apple product delivery ever, if you ask me. Seriously disappointed customer here.

Here it is several *days* after an outage we were told was going to be six hours, and the service is running worse than it was before the change. Also, as an eight year member of .Mac, it would be nice to get a single email (amidst all the advertisements we receive from them), about what’s going on, what’s missing form the service and why, and above all when we can reasonably expect it to work.

  6. Does this update restore Apple iCards to MobileMe? I’m just so excited that being automatically “upgraded” means losing a feature I truly loved! NOT!

If you have something to add to that topic, give Apple a piece of your mind here:

then have your say here, too:

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?ic110608&1;Apple has hidden the discussion board on the topic, but here it is:

  7. I am so glad I dropped my .mac account back in March. Life is great with Google Mail. I’m running the beta for Spanning Sync and its working great with Google Mail, Contacts, and Calendar. All of them are syncing up with Apple Mail, Apple Contacts and iCalendar. I will definitely buy this product.
