Apple has released iTunes 7.7 and also launched the App Store in some countries. More countries are expected to come online shortly.
Use iTunes 7.7 to sync music, video, and more with iPhone 3G, and download applications from the iTunes Store exclusively designed for iPhone and iPod touch with software version 2.0 or later. Also use the new Remote application for iPhone or iPod touch to control iTunes playback from anywhere in your home — a free download from the App Store.
iTunes 7.7 is available via Software Update (but, not, for some reason, via iTunes “Check for Updates.” Go figure).
iTunes 7.7 is also available via Apple’s website here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
UK iTunes store, main sidebar at top of iTunes store window :
‘New Releases’ > App Store
US iTunes store, main sidebar at top of iTunes Store window : ‘New Releases’ > NO app store tab [?]
Am I missing something?
If anyone’s really desperate for 2.0…

If it downloads as .zip, just take the .zip off the end and it will work ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />
For the ones that can’t get to the App Store…
Go to Preferences – General
Check the Applications under Show:
It’ll then show up in your library.
Bottom right corner – click on Get More Application
You beat me to it Freddy
Got it. Thanks guys…!
However, it seems to appear in the main tabs of the UK site. Weird.
Anything else new in 7.7 besides the app store support, mobile me support, and the remote control support?
There is also a new Apple TV update 2.1 which allows the unit to be controlled by the iPhone with the new “remote” app.
I don’t see App Store on the iTunes Store home page.
Just to let you know, iTunes 7.7 is not available for Windows through the auto update service.
Thanks for the instructions guys. However, looks like its not available in the USA yet.
Clicked on the “Get More Applications” in the bottom right of the iTunes window and get “The iTunes Application Store is not currently available. Please try again later.”
Guess we’ll have to wait until tomorrow with the release of the new iPhone…
For me when I click on get more apps it says the application store is not available
Ok, I can download the apps, I just can’t load them onto the phone.
Matt, the update to the iPhone will be tomorrow. Patience, I know, I know. Let it begin! And on the 8th day!
Seems the apps store isn’t available in Canada yet!
@ Richie_mofo
Thanks.
FINALLY… it’s a direct link… not a iTunes thing… YET.

iPhone 2.0, bitches.
The App Store doesn’t yet show up in North America iTunes, but you can switch stores using the menu at the bottom of the page. Try New Zealand to see what the App Store looks like.
TO SEE LISTED APPS IN APP STORE IN iTUNES:
Search “applications”
Find App window, click “See More”

Even though I don’t have an iPhone yet (T-minus 2 months), I downloaded 76 iPhone apps. Cool. I can’t wait.
Interesting that the iPhone apps have the .IPA extension.
@Richie_mofo…
to be safe I tried to install the new firmware on the iPod Touch and it failed. I guess I will have to wait for the official release…
Guys, the App Store is definitely available in the USA. I’ve been downloading stuff for quite a while. Of course, it’s a little frustrating downloading stuff that you can’t use until the iPhone 2.0 software becomes available. But taking the time to scan the 250 available applications is a little like Christmas morning.

Apps store works for me in Canada…
Wait for the bugs to get worked out first!!!
There are bound to be plenty.
It would be a serious problem if your iPhone gets bricked!!
WAIT!
