Apple releases iTunes 7.7; launches App Store

Apple has released iTunes 7.7 and also launched the App Store in some countries. More countries are expected to come online shortly.

Use iTunes 7.7 to sync music, video, and more with iPhone 3G, and download applications from the iTunes Store exclusively designed for iPhone and iPod touch with software version 2.0 or later. Also use the new Remote application for iPhone or iPod touch to control iTunes playback from anywhere in your home — a free download from the App Store.

iTunes 7.7 is available via Software Update (but, not, for some reason, via iTunes “Check for Updates.” Go figure).

iTunes 7.7 is also available via Apple’s website here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

  1. I already “bought” some apps: myspace mobile and remote.

    Can’t wait to use my iPhone/iPod Touch as remote. (killerapp!!!) ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

  2. Perhaps this is a dumb question but am wondering about the iTunes update. It says that it works exclusively with the 2.0 software. If that is the case, how will it work before the 2.0 software is available?
