Yankee Group: 8 in 10 businesses now using Apple Macs

macbook pro, apple macbook, apple macbook pro“Nearly 80% of businesses have Macs in-house, nearly double the percentage that said they had users running Mac OS X two years ago, a research firm said today,” Gregg Keizer reports for Computerworld.

“‘Then, we were talking about onesies and twosies,’ said Laura DiDio, a research fellow at Yankee Group Research Inc. who conducted a survey of more than 700 senior IT administrators and C-level executives. ‘Now the number of actual users is very significant. A number of the businesses said that they had 50 or 100 or even several thousand Macs deployed,'” Keizer reports.

“In early 2006, when DiDio last polled corporate IT professionals on Mac deployment, 47% said that they had Apple Inc. hardware in their environments,” Keizer reports.

“DiDio was impressed with the growth of Macs in business, considering that Apple Inc. has put little to no official effort into that part of the market,” Keizer reports. “‘This isn’t a tidal wave, but it’s certainly a sustained trend,’ she said. ‘Apple has a beachhead in business. Where it once had just 1-to-2% market share in corporate, now they’re up to 8-to-10%,’ DiDio added. Twenty-one percent of the firms surveyed reported that they had deployed more than 50 Macs.”

You MAC fanbois believe everything you read!
This is obviously a fake report, full of….uh…made up stuff. Apple’s dying because……there’s no proof…Ampar is a nitwit…..um……..

    That was a tabernacle choir!

  3. “I guess the bright side is to consider what the stock price would probably do if there was BAD news.”

It would probably go up dramatically. I stopped trying figure out why awhile back.

  4. I stopped by the local camera store yesterday. Went to pick up the DVDs I asked them to burn from the compact VCR tapes a buddy recorded for my wife. Old camera, not FireWire or USB, GREAT quality. Anyway, spotted a MacBook sitting atop an iBook on the counter and remarked on them. The whole shop is Apple, except for the one PC they need to keep around to run the UPS(?) app they need for tracking(?)! The young woman was “properly enthusiastic” – as in, happy about the Macs and happy to discuss the situation but neither gushing nor pushy. Would we had more such Mac Advocates!

  5. @Ampar,

Thanks for finding this one. It says a lot. Hopefully the trend will continue. Hopefully Windows 7 will suck more than Vista, in which case Gates will REALLY be enjoying retirement – with his stock in the toilet.
