“Scheduled delivery of Apple computers to schools run by the New York City Department of Education have been temporarily suspended due to problems related to connecting to the DOE’s wireless network infrastructure,” Prince McLean reports for AppleInsider.
“Apple is scrambling to address the WiFi connectivity issue within its Leopard operating system. The fix appears set to be included in the bug fixes of the upcoming Mac OS X 10.5.3 release, as noted in the report Successive Mac OS X 10.5.3 builds continue,” McLean reports.
“Until the software fix ships, all Macs on order with wireless features are being held at Dell’s merge center in Austin, Texas. The DOE contracted with Dell Managed Services to handle all of the school system’s tech related ordering, including the procurement of Apple desktops, laptops, and servers,” McLean reports.

We service 2 ISD’s, and between them there are nearly 1,000 NEW MacBooks up and online (and several thousand older Apple laptops).
And no, there isn’t a problem with their Wi-Fi.
I have to laugh! All of you fan boys are such hypocrites! Had this been a problem with VISTA you would all be shouting with glee about how lousy MS products our. But, replace the the name VISTA with Leopard, and it’s always somebody else’s fault.
You folks have NO credibility. Anyone with 1/2 a brain will not value anything you say in the future.
That’s great news! Maybe one day soon I will be able to wake up my MBP and actually connect to a WAN.

In case you’re too dense (or too much a fanboy), we have THOUSANDS Appla laptops up and running in two states.
There are a mic of iBooks, PowerBooks, MacBooks and MacBook Pros.
Off the top of my head, roughly EIGHT HUNDRED NEW MACBOOKS are out there, and they’re online, using Wi-Fi, and no one has determined that there’s an issue with them.

Moo, you missed my point. The district may be the problem, not Apple’s iMacs. Sure. But, my point is that the fan boys mindlessly make excuses for Apple, while under the SAME CONDITIONS they would blame MS without giving it a second thought.
