Apple CEO Steve Jobs wins ‘Leader in Innovation’ CNBC Executive Leadership Award

The fourth annual CNBC Executive Leadership Awards was held at the New York Public Library on March 31, 2008.

The award winners:
• Leader in Innovation, Steve Jobs, CEO, Apple Inc.
• Lifetime Achievement Award: Robert L. Johnson, Founder & Chairman, The RLJ Companies
• Entrepreneurial Excellence: Bradbury H. Anderson, Vice Chairman & CEO, Best Buy Co., Inc.
• Overall Executive Leadership: John T. Chambers, Chairman & CEO, CISCO Systems Inc.
• Green Leadership: Fujio Cho, Chairman, Toyota Motor Corporation

Award winners were nominated by their peers and chosen by an external judging panel. CNBC selected the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.

  1. Mr. Jobs wins Leader in Innovation twice in four years – very nice! While I am sure he will be a dot in history, what his leadership says about we should expect from all executive leaders should become an established axiom (okay, maybe that is redundant). We have become incredibly accepting of mediocrity in our executive leadership and it must stop. Mr. Jobs should be the benchmark for all executive leaders.

  2. Ballmer isn’t on that list, because there is no category for Leader in Imitating King Kong.

    Anyway, he is probably concentrating on his training for olympic chair-throwing in Beijing.
