Security cameras, audit helped solve iPhone thefts from Apple Store Rockingham Park

“The two men accused of stealing 330 iPhones from the Mall at Rockingham Park [Salem, NH] did it all in one night, planning to make $138,600 from one buyer, police said,” James A. Kimble reports for The Eagle-Tribune.

“They were caught with basic security measures, according to a police affidavit released yesterday,” Kimble reports.

Store security cameras recorded employees Christopher Nashed, 22, of Sandown and Josh Garrard, 28, of Methuen, Mass., removing boxes of iPhones from the Apple store after it closed after midnight on Dec. 22, the affidavit says,” Kimble reports.

“Yesterday, both men found themselves in front of District Court judges in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Nashed was ordered held on $250,000 bail, pending his next hearing. Garrard waived extradition from Lawrence (Mass.) District Court on a fugitive from justice charge,” Kimble reports.

“Apple store managers reported the thefts to police after a store audit showed 330 iPhones were never sold through the store’s registers and were simply gone, police said,” Kimble reports.

  1. Call me Jeff Skilling

    >Pretty sad that you had to equate pay with character.

Never did say that…you assumed it and thought it was my thought.

Who said some corporate heads weren’t monkeys too? Perhaps somewhat bigger than the day-to-day variety, but still monkeys. For example, there’s someone over in Microsoft known as “monkey boy”. Now that’s what I call an Ape! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

  2. I bought a Macbook there, and I have to say, it’s not the best-run store. The staff forced me to wait a half hour to go thru all their questions, even after I told them EXACTLY what I wanted, and that I was an experienced Mac user having owned a plethora of them from 1987. Nevertheless, they had to ask if I wanted dotMac, even though I already have it and had just upped for another year, they were pushing me to extend it for a second year! What maroons. Couldn’t believe the hard sell for stuff I didn’t need.

  3. Service at “the Rock”…

Genius bar is fine, the rest- or most of the rest- they need to go.
On many occasions: wrong answers, moody sales people, pushy, no enthusiasm, don’t return phone calls, and more. I’m not hard to please- but this store… needs an upgrade. Other than my experiences at the genius bar and maybe a couple of other visits; I never walked out of there feeling like a customer.

Going back to the Apple online store.

  4. Mercy, have mercy…
My father only makes 1.2 million a year, I wear last years jeans, my tennis shoes are scuffed. Come on,
its not like I am black, Wait I am, OK off to jail.
Sorry Steve, I just wanted to offer the masses iPhones
at a better price. Not believing that either, Ok off to jail.
