Rush Limbaugh thanks Apple for fixing his Mac issues

It looks like Apple has fixed Rush Limbaugh’s Mac issues and he talked about it on the most listened to radio talk show in America; heard on over 600 stations in the U.S.

Selected excerpts from the transcript of today’s edition of The Rush Limbaugh Show:

Last time I was in New York or maybe two times ago, I asked on air, an open-air plea to Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple, Inc., to help out with a couple problems I was having with the new operating system: OS 10.5 Leopard. Let me review the problems because it was funny. You know, every time I talk about Apple… I read a lot of Apple Web blogs just to keep up with the latest what’s happening with Macs and iPhones and so forth. Any time I talk about Apple it’s just guaranteed that some of these blogs are going to blow gaskets like everybody else does. They’re mad that I use a Mac, thinking I don’t know what I’m talking about when I discuss Mac issues and so forth. It’s funny to read. As I mentioned there were two things that would really be helpful. Actually, just only one. The other one was more of a fun thing I wish the computer would do that it was supposed to do. Both have been resolved through the diligent work of an engineer that Apple assigned my IT guy, and the primary problem was with their Time Machine program.

MacDailyNews Note: Limbaugh mentions that he has four brand-new Mac Pros, each with 32 gigs of RAM with two 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (8-core) processors, and describes what his Mac issues were (Time Machine could not restore mailboxes and Back to My Mac could only connect using direct IP sharing) and what Apple did to fix them. And, for the record, we are not mad that Rush Limbaugh is a Mac user (although based on past Limbaugh-related articles, some of our readers certainly do seem to have an issue with Rush’s choice of platforms), nor do we think that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about when he discusses Mac issues.

Selected excerpts (continued):
An Apple engineer was assigned to us, and the fix took place last night. I did two weeks of trying it, creating logs for the Apple engineers to look at, and they found the problem… So I just wanted to take a moment to thank people at Apple. I’m not going to mention the name of the engineer. I would love to, but if I did, this guy would be taking heat for the rest of his career from people for helping me. But they were very cooperative, and I think it’s going to end up having to be a system-wide fix, which is good, because it’s been discovered… What? (interruption) Mmm-hmm. Algore is not going to fire anybody. Algore is probably going to say, “Wow, I can use mail now with Time Machine?” He’ll probably go home and try it and see if it works. I don’t even know… Somebody said, “Make ’em name the patch after you.” There will be a patch. I don’t think they’ll say anything about it other than in the release notes of the next security update or system update. But, anyway, I wanted to fill you in on the details of this, because it was very nice [of] them and they were extremely dilligent. It took a lot of time to find out what the glitch was.

  1. Bottom line: more positive PR for Apple and Macs from Rush Limbaugh.

    MDN is exactly right.

    And I, am ALWAYS RIGHT.

I actually happened to hear that snippet today, live, as it happened.

I that context, if you had heard it it, you realize how powerful this was.

Think about it. A media giant, taking time to extoll the virtues of Apple to millions, listening LIVE!

  2. Glad Rush got his problem’s solved.

As a long time loyal, high visibility Apple user, and world wide public praiser and promoter of Apple since the 1980’s he deserves to have his computer issues addressed.

  3. they say any press is good press.

    bullshit.

    rush limbaugh is bad press.

when he is thoroughly debunked (and it will be soon) none of his opinions will matter.

honestly, this is such a bizarre relationship. it’s like combining swatch & timex, benetton & izod, goldman sachs & berkshire hathaway, or even A & W and RC.

but it’s REALLY nothing like those comparisons. imagine a pompous gas-bag that prefers helium over hydrogen …..

market share and advertising paid for by rush is good for apple, but rush is bad for the rest of us.

and so i ramble, tis my right, until anonymous comments are prohibited online, and then we will all be criminals.

    support the free state!

  4. Rush has been a long time Mac guy- he talks about Apple all the time. He even gives Macs away to call in’s. You know Apple has something good going for it when Apple’s board in full of Democrats, ie Al Gore, and Rush doesn’t slam them. See, Rush can be reasonable and knows a good thing when it shows itself. I just wish I could afford the kind of computer he uses!

  5. He shares a trait with the fact-challenged ‘Goldwater-Girl’ Hitlary: a very (& I mean very) selective memory concerning past statements and actions.

Back when Bill Clinton had the US Army in the Balkans, Rush cried every day about how the Army was ‘Meals on Wheels’ (his term) and nation building was a misuse of the Armed Forces. And I mean every day- for years.

Now that BushWorld has been going on lo these many years, that all seems to have been forgotten- kind of like his Hillbilly Heroin Addiction.

I think he’s a closet PC user that has had Macs for his broadcast.

  6. THIS ISN’T POLITICS, ITS F*%&KING;TECH for god sake. MDN, you really need to get a life and find better Apple/tech related news.
this is total garbage and who cares anyway. Maybe he took to many Percs. After all he was a pill abuser for many years. Now preaches right wing religious jabber to the BRAINWASHED.

    HILLARY 08!!!!!!!! back to prosperity

  7. “Face it Rush is a cool guy, even though he is wrong 20% of the time.”

And when he is wrong, it is for the same reason that zealots (political, religious, or any other) are always wrong: they refuse to admit that their opposition might be right about something, even when they are.

This country is doomed if everyone makes their decisions based on philosophical dogma.

Full discosure: I’m a fiscally conservative, socially liberal, environmentalist concerned about national security. I think I need someone to start a new political party, because neither of the existing ones wants me.

  8. …You wack-job libs
    …silly liberals
…easy to be liberal when you aren’t signing the cheques.
… lefty, hippie wacko Steve Jobs

Do you morons even have a clue about how childish you all are? I would expect this from 6 year olds.

C’mere to Canada…I will kick yer collective arses…lol

  9. Ron sez: “Rush is the most Right-on broadcaster there is. You wack-job libs should listen for a few weeks. You might change your minds about him. He’s entertaining also. I’d vote for him over Shrillary or Barak Hussein Obama. We need a benevolent dictator in the USA.”

Um, huh. This is a joke, right?

If not: Benevolent dictator? Like Hitler was to the German people? I don’t think you have to be remotely ‘lib’ to despise fascism and lying, war mongering politicians. As for having trouble with Hillary (love the snotty ‘Shrillary’ nik) and Obama, (what is wrong with anyone named ‘Hussein’ anyway? Too scary other-culture for you?!), I can see your point. I can also see the point that McCain is a doddering old geezer who caves in any time his ideas are questioned by the neo-con-job mutants within the Conservative branch of the Republicans. (Yeah, like we want William Kristol running the USA some more? I don’t think so).

Rush is just another foolish human as are we all in our own way. He is also just another vicious liar, as I expect we have all been at some time or other. He simply makes a living at it. He’s amusing, knows how to hit people’s hot buttons, and follows an agenda that is written for him. He doesn’t follow the agenda himself, big surprise, but he’s a good story teller. He has a brilliant handle on the use of rhetoric. He’s also got great taste in computers. There is hope for him as there is hope for us all, if we choose to take it.

    ;-Derek

  10. It’s interesting that Rush only pointed out the negative remarks made on this forum about him as if only bad comments about him were made here. For all of those that understood him it was a deafening silence for us.
Rush warns about painting with a broad brush, now he has done so himself.

  11. Rush keep up the great work and thanks for spreading the word about Apple!

Also, can I have your old computers when you’re done with them. I can just imagine what you replaced with those monsters! I could probably set up one hell of a grid cluster.
