What a treat.
On the plus side, it’s nice to see that folks are tailoring their sites to the iPhone. Windows Mobile has been around for ages and I don’t recollect seeing anyone going out of their way to make a Windows Mobile formatted site.
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />
Bad news. What?
They want to brainwash the iPhone users too?
Nice to know we can get our propaganda in a bettter format.
Sweet. Now I can watch Fox right-wing propaganda on my iPhone.
Just what I needed. A mobile platform to see and hear how Mike Huckabee is going to save the world.
I think I’ll stick something more relevant and believable like mobile.theonion.com.
http://www.theonion.com/content/node/55834
Sugar-coated turd is still a turd….
They should change their name to Fox Propaganda rather than Fox News
Do they really think we iPhone users are that dumb?
“stick to something”
Yeah, one day editing would be nice.
@Ampar
I think i agree that the world needs to be saved, but saved from people like Bush, Huckabee, O’Reilly Ahmadinajad (or whatever), Giuliani and the rest of the gang
Looks really nice on the iTouch, esp the Jackass video article…
“Sugar-coated turd is still a turd….”
I think the same thing every time I hear a State of the Union Address.
To iff hello world:
I forgot to include a sarcasm tag. Please forgive me.
The world is following the phone. In the same way the landscape around the planet changed for the automobile and highways were built for the them, Apple has changed the world again…..cant wait till Feb and the SDK to see what the smallest computer in the world will be able to do. It is going to be ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!
@Ampar
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />
no no. I got you but i was elaborating on your point
Uh oh, here comes 100 posts from clueless liberals screaming about the end of civilization.
Hey, crybabies, go watch and read the 1000 other liberal propaganda outlets! Why can’t conservatives have one?
Too bad Fox doesn’t have a credible news organization. Perhaps the Cartoon Network would do this .
Finally, at last Pravda for the iphone! Heil Fueher Shrub!
“clueless”?
And you are?
Too bad MSNBC, CNN, CNN Headline News, ABC, CBS, NBC, New York Times, LA Times doesn’t have a credible news organization. Perhaps the Cartoon Network would do this.
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />
“clueless liberals screaming about the end of civilization”
I call that Thanksgiving dinner with the family. Good times.
But why would anyone in there right mind what FOX NEWS showing up on there iPhone?
Don’t we as a nation get enough right wing, christian fascist propaganda without needing to encourage it ourselves!
Fox news needs to reeled in and brought under control!
God forbid (or add non religious reference) forbid any one have different views, ever notice LibTards HATE any one that doesnt follow their propanda and doctrine.? So much for free speech.
Liberalism is a mental disorder…… sheepish idiotic fools.
Global warming is a political movement ie Socialism.
How come the fact that the Antarctic ice sheet is larger and The Arctic ice being over an inch thicker earlier this year does not get any coverage….. ? Because it doesnt fit into the world Socialist Agenda…. We are all going to burn to death in a flood, just ask Al Gore, we’ll swoop down in his private jet and his entourage in suv’s with his $30K “green” electric bill to save the day. Just give him your 261 TRILLION $$ and all is ok. Liberal=Lemming
Al Gore will not debate global warming, because he cant, he will just BLOVIATE.
Not saying that there isn’t climate change, but this Socialist movement is completely out of hand.
Wow. The weak minded are so scared of a different point of view.
Spare me the flame. I watch almost every news organization there is, and Fox is just a small part of it. I have enough sense to filter out the bullshit from all of them.
Fox is no worse.
Cool, I love Fixed Noise in the morning, good for a couple laughs. Guaranteed.
Apple a Day said “Do they really think we iPhone users are that dumb?”
FOX News replied “YES”
“ox news needs to reeled in and brought under control!”!
They just bought WSJ. how about that?
“God forbid (or add non religious reference) forbid any one have different views, ever notice LibTards HATE any one that doesnt follow their propanda and doctrine.”
So much for not contradicting yourself. And what the hell is wrong with being pro panda? Those cute animals aren’t hurting anyone. Sheesh.
“The weak minded are so scared of a different point of view”
WOW back at you. Lies are not different point views.
I’m going to start the Alien News Network. Today’s action from another perspective.
“WOW back at you. Lies are not different point views.”
I suppose you can tell me of a network that gets it right?
This ought to be a riot…..
Your first disqualification happened as soon as you used “libtard.”
But then you were a good parrot and took the opportunity to go down your list of talking points. Someone give him a cracker!
“I suppose you can tell me of a network that gets it right?”
TVLAND?
I am not pr any one. but FOX News are unbelievable. they use religion and patriotism for their own good and their own agenda and lots fall into that either by choice or naivety .
“Just give him your 261 TRILLION $$ and all is ok.”
Do you think he’ll take a personal check?
I may have to shift some funds from savings to make it good.
_______and_________ their own good and their own agenda and lots fall into that either by choice or naivety .
Fill in the blanks for any other network.
I should have saved some of that rope I gave you, since you choked on your own BS.
Wish I could play more. Gotta go get high.
I agree with TowerTone, here
Do you really think that any of the media outlets really have the ability to tell the truth? Or even know the truth?
The media never goes very deep into the history, geo-political relationships, and back door deals that make world go round. Lies are told to protect the interests of the powerful… and we believe them… enough to take sides over the lies…
Iran is nuclear… Iran is not nuclear… please, the truth is probably more than any of us can bear… who supports this nonsense? This very dangerous nonsense…
…And is FOX News worse than any other major media outlet?
Their fair and balanced lies are at least blatant…and
At least they have macbook pros on their desks.
There is plenty enough liberal propaganda on CNN, CBS, MSNBC, and the other networks to satisfy even the most militant left wing libtards. I’ve never understood this fascination libbies have with FOX, I guess it’s because they’re the only major network that doesn’t do their bidding so it pisses them off.
You losers really need to find something better to do with your pathetic lives. Getting a job and actually contributing to society would be a good place to start…
Anyone notice that Fox News for iPhone is a “staff” pick on the Apple site?
BTW, the only posts above that make sense are those by TowerTone. Pretty funny that liberals get in such a lather about one cable news channel doing nothing more than the three major networks and many other outlets have been doing for decades, but from different perspective. What happened to liberals supporting “multiple perspectives”? As suggested by the “reel in and control” freak above who refers to Fox as “fascist,” I guess that always really meant “multiple (approved) perspectives”–LOL!!
“Do you really think that any of the media outlets really have the ability to tell the truth?”
Um, I’ve been trusting the Food Network for months and so far no projectile vomiting. <fingers crossed> They’re pretty liberal with the spices sometimes.
Was I wrong?
Can’t wait for http://iphone.macdailynews.com.
“Why can’t conservatives have one?”
Well at least you are smart enough to recognize that it is propaganda, although I doubt you are smart enough to understand what a liberal really is.
Don’t think for a second that it’s just dems, liberals or whatever group you want to demonize that thinks things are out of whack.
Go Ron Paul!!!
“Global warming is a political movement ie Socialism.”
Libtard…
Don’t let FACTS and SCIENCE get in the way of your ideology. What credentials do you have to make such a statement!?! Do you just dismiss ALL the scientists as LibTards and tenured terrorist!?!?!
Don’t you wonder why educated people tend to be liberal?!?!
For me, belief is based on testable evidence – not flag-waving, faith-based, dogmatic proclamations.
Whatever happened to TRUE conservatives?!? The right wing has been hijacked by Fundamentalist Ultra-nationalist?!?
No wonder people like Hagel, Bloomberg, Buckley, et. al. are decrying the decline of the Republican Party.
Don’t we as a nation get enough right wing, christian fascist propaganda without needing to encourage it ourselves!
That’s a bit much. I agree that Fox’s commentators are mostly conservative (Mr. Colmes being the liberal of note), but their news is balanced. At CBS, et. al., most of their commentators are liberal, but their news is NOT balanced.
That’s what makes me laugh. People scream about O’Reilly being conservative and biased. Of course he is; he is a commentator, not an anchor. We saw the truth come out about mainstream anchors with the Dan Rather fiasco.
@ TowerTone:
While I agree with you news networks are very politically motivated and are not very accurate or reliable, it’s disappointing to hear your cynicism. Your response to the idea that “all networks get it wrong” should not be “Fox News is entitled to misinform people,” but that we as viewers should be pressuring news networks to be more accountable.
And I think most people who have seen Fox News can tell that its bias is unabashedly over the top. Perhaps that is a good thing, and such questions will get people to be more critical of their news sources. At the same time, it is a substitute for “news”. It is propaganda, no doubt about it, and propaganda needs to be opposed, that is, if you want a free society. What I truly worry about is the people who think Fox News is representing reality and providing any real information about the issues and facts. It only encourages bigotry, intolerance and warmongering.
By the way, posting under the name Frank will get you blocked. Go ahead, try it. Welcome to the New America, comrades.
I watch Fox News and CNN. Each at times is interesting and both sometimes make me cringe. I think a lot of people conflate the Fox News channel’s commentary shows (e.g., O’Reilly & Hannitty) with the network’s news coverage. While the commentary shows lean conservative (if not “hard Right”) the news reporting IS pretty fair and balanced. Some of you are so used to news reporting that puts a negative spin on the actions of, let’s see, Republicans, the Administration, Corporations, America… and the like, that when that spin is absent you have the illusion that the spin is going the other way. How many of you Fox News bashers actually visited the iPhone site before commenting? Maybe the one or two of you that did would like to highlight the news stories there that are “lies” or “right-wing propaganda”. They are just stories like you’d see via AP or Reuters, on CNN, or in the NYT or LA Times.
Don’t let FACTS and SCIENCE get in the way of your ideology. What credentials do you have to make such a statement!?! Do you just dismiss ALL the scientists as LibTards and tenured terrorist!?!?!
There is more and more dissent every day within the ranks of scientists concerning the human effect on global warming. I don’t know of any hard facts, just conjecture and political pandering by the likes of Al Gore (who was given a peace prize for environmental theories in which he as NO expertise of which many have been proven false; a prize once awarded to the terrorist Arafat.)
Don’t you wonder why educated people tend to be liberal?!?! Because they get so educated the lose their common sense.
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” /> Actually, it is an elitist mentality that develops. People get more educated and think themselves better than others. Therefore, their social and fiscal ideas should be pushed upon the “lower class” of uneducated individuals because they don’t know any better.
For me, belief is based on testable evidence – not flag-waving, faith-based, dogmatic proclamations.
People who believe completely, with no room for discussion, in man-made global warming are making their dogmatic proclamations based on their faith in the “science” of climate change, as they now call it. The difference is, they hate their country and the fact that it is so powerful and wealthy and, therefore, don’t wave flags.
“Read the headlines, search the FOX News archive, and watch every video available on Foxnews.com, all optimized for your Apple iPhone and iPod touch.”
No.
As a Huckabee supporter, I find it somewhat funny that people here are complaining about Fox News pushing Huckabee. He’s actually gotten more heat from Hannity & Colmes and O’Reilly than many of the other networks’ interviews. We’re all over at the Huckabee grassroots forums complaining about Fox News’ coverage.
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
On a more relevant note, I think this is a great step forward for the media, and I can hardly wait until every major news outlet has an iPhone-specific site. That’ll make it a lot easier to stay up-to-day while on my bus ride!
well anyway its a very nice iPhone site implementation
@ Spark,
Thanks for the clear concise comment. My choice is Fox and the BBC. Try to balance it out somewhere in the middle.
Damn. I’m so glad I live in America where I can watch whatever I want on my iPhone, TV, etc and so can my neighbors. In fact we can also not watch we don’t want to watch. Where are all the rest of you at, where you toe the party line and don’t “tolerate” anyone who disagrees with you ?
Great, always a voice to offset the rest of the lib media. Always a voice. Always a choice.
Good to see Fox looking to help out iPhone users. funny how many readers here can’t see that.
That’s interesting people here are making a “case” for Fox News that according to the notion of “fair and balanced” viewpoints, Fox News has an “equal say” in matters.
First of all, this notion that figuring out the truth is simply balancing two opposing sides is eroding the very fabric of journalistic integrity. The problem is if you want balanced information you need to make sure both sources are equally accurate. If you balance two corrupt sources of information, the end result is not Truth or good information: it’s still bad information.
For example, if you read Pravda and then Der Stürmer (Nazi Germany’s propaganda paper), would you say the truth is somewhere in between?
Additionally, another issue is how sources should be weighted. Would you argue that someone reading Nostrodamus is equally informed about the world than someone who is reading the New York Times? Hopefully not, as Nostradamus was talking out of his ass and had no knowledge of our current situation.
But according to the notion of “Fair and Balanced”, Nostradamus has an equal say in what is happening in the world today.
The big hoodwink of American culture has been convincing people that garbage / garbage = trustworthy news. The problem is people don’t look beyond the garbage to see what’s going on.
“The meaning of a statement is its method of verification”
– AJ Ayer
FOX news might not be some people’s favorite, but the fact that any media sees iPhone customers as worthy enough to put forth effort to accommodate them is positive.
TexagAg03,
“There is more and more dissent every day within the ranks of scientists concerning the human effect on global warming. I don’t know of any hard facts…”
Uhhh… and where did you get this fake fact nugget? The overwhelming consensus from more than 90 percent of scientist is that global warming is real and is caused by humans. Did you see the news today on the latest report from the UN showing that the last 10 years have been the warmest on record? I forget… the UN is just another organization you’ll dismiss outright…
And what are the credentials of these dissenting scientists? Are they all with the Discovery Institute or funded by Big Oil?
Have you read the Oreskes study on the Overwhelming Climate Change Consensus of the Scientific Community? Google it up?
I’m not denying their are dissenters, but that doesn’t give them any credence. To this day, there are Holocaust deniers, Flat-Earth believers, “Moon landing was staged” conspiracy theorist, and Creationists masquerading as scientists with ID.
“Because they get so educated the lose their common sense…”
Wow!!! You lose your common sense when you get educated! That’s the worse excuse for illiteracy!
What is common sense? Instinctual decisions based on emotions, tradition and the cultural millieu – “without dependence upon esoteric knowledge or study or research, but based upon what is believed to be knowledge held by people “in common”, so: the knowledge and experience most people have, or are believed to have by the person using the term.”
At one time, it was common sense to have slavery, to believe that the Earth was the center of the Universe, and the atom was indivisible.
A proper education arms you with the tools for critical thinking. Skepticism is the default position of Science. There is NO dogma in Science – ALL theories are provisional. All prevailing theories are only held up by the community by consensus because they all try to keep testing or disproving it. As soon as the theory fails a fundamental test, a true scientist is more than happy to abandon it.
Not understanding something doesn’t automatically lead to attributing it to the paranormal or the supernatural, but further study and investigation.
C’mon Man!!!! THINK for yourself! And THINK critically!
“People who believe completely, with no room for discussion, in man-made global warming are making their dogmatic proclamations based on their faith in the “science”
No room for discussion!?!?! Science is all about DISCOURSE! Google “scientific method”. Again, all theories ARE provisional!!!
Lemme get right on that….not
You leftis are so blinded by the liberal bias on network news which pretends to be “centrist” on main stream. That ANYTHING with the slighted tilt to the right is seen as extreame right.
Grow up.. people have the right get it “right” to be “right” and have a “right” opinion. I’ve “left” if to you to draw your own “left” opionin of what my “right” poit of vew is..
That’s why we call it “right”… by the way. But thats bettrer left for another disussion thread OFF of this tech site please..
Oh, and by the way, some conservatives such as myself DO use Mac.
BlueStateRed
Faux News? No thanks! The regular news outlets are bad enough. No need for lies added in.
Great thanks to all you liberals out their. I love reading these entries. They were great laughs. I loved things like “brainwashing”, “propaganda”, “fixed noise”, but my favorite so far is… “ Fox news needs to reeled in and brought under control!” I think that came from Stalin Therepguy. Keep up the good work people. Still more room below this comment.
With all the news outlets that liberals have, I find it funny that they get so upset with Fox News.
wmd
@ Blue state Red
While there may be a liberal bias, the answer is not conservative bias. Two biases do not make a right.
Rather, why don’t you challenge bias itself, instead of embracing you own party’s?
Fox “News” is the most odious propaganda arm of the current Administration. I will not dirty my iPhone with it’s filth.
javester,
Your argument can be made both ways. I did enjoy the passion in your comments.
Below is one of many responses to Al Gore’s “World is flat idea”, or should I say “Man made Global Warming”.
http://www.greatglobalwarmingswindle.com/
I know you people hate this site and love to dumb down everyone else by calling them radicals.
wmd
Why is it that the overwhelming majority of grossly gramatically butchered postings here by righties?
On Topic
Even though the iPhone has a full web browser, I love the iPhone optimized websites. They are really awesome.
Off Topic
I feel sorry for you brainwashed, high tax paying, the government owes me something, I’m melting because of a .5 degee global warming rise, I want to sing cumbaya with terrorists, DUMBASSES …..
wmd,
As a trained scientist, I will order the Great Global Warming Swindle DVD and watch it with an open yet critical mind.
But once again, scientific theories are always held in abeyance and are only held up as the prevailing theory necessarily by consensus.
There will ALWAYS be dissenters, credentialed, qualified or otherwise.
Also, the Earth’s climate is a super complex system and I submit man is NOT the only factor causing climate change. However, their is compelling evidence that we are accelerating the phenomena by our activities.
Appealing to the “common sense” argument, isn’t it then the “right” thing to try to do something about it and not sit idly by?
If we don’t MODIFY our behaviour, our children will pay in spades for our irresponsible use of the Earth’s limited resources.
My guess is that most of the FNC bashers never watch it, they just mindlessly repeat what they read at Moveon.org. If you did watch FNC it would be quite obvious that they present both sides of an argument, which is more than CNBC does. Think for yourself!
Too bad I refuse to watch FOX.
WTF CNN?!?!
An earlier post repeated the NeoCon Mantra about the “Liberal” Media. With the exception of Air America, I don’t see it on my digital cable. What I do see is a bunch of pandering, blow-dried newz-readers. The copy and content is Yellow Journalism of the highest order.
Faux Newz support of the iPhone is just another reason (along with SBC/AT&T;lock-in) to keep my T-Mobile phone for another season.
“Fair and balanced” is a euphemism for moral relativism, and masks idealogical-based propaganda as news reporting.
If you want real news, check out PBS.
I’m waiting for The Onion to sue Fox for encroaching on their territory of news parody.
wow – liberals are terrified of Fox News
keep shouting down those other viewpoints, guys
Dear Yikes,
People are not terrified of Fox News. They right treat its campaign of misinformation with contempt.
Contempt is very different from fear.
>>Sigh<<
Sadly, Know-nothingism is as American as apple pie. Texas, I suggest that next time you need surgery, you let me do it. I’m sure I can muster a strong opinion on whatever ails you and I’m unencumbered by all that medical training that might rob me of common sense. Stop worshiping ignorance as the wellspring of sense.
The complaint that the MSM is liberally biased is pretty absurd. They got so afraid of that smear that they’ve bent over backwards not to challenge obvious distortions and misrepresentations of facts by the right wing. Take the recent confusion over Iran: how many times have you heard anyone in MSM say that the president lied about the state of Iran’s nuclear program? We now know that he was presented with evidence contrary to what he wanted to hear, yet proceeded to tell the American people just what he’d planned to say anyway. He knew one thing to be true, yet said that another thing was true. That’s called a lie. It’s far from the first time. I happen to believe that Iran poses a serious threat, but his constant lies and failure have undermined both our military and diplomatic capacity to deal with that threat. Yet right-wingers continue to believe that he and his would be successors in the primary field are keeping us safe because they talk tough (even when that’s counterproductive).
So the MSM hasn’t pointed out that Bush, Cheney, et al are liars, but much worse than that, they haven’t done a very good job of presenting the facts that prove it. Their common practice now is to recite the positions of two sides of any issue (regardless how many sides there may be), exactly as given by the most vitriolic proponent of each side, and claim that that represents balance. They’ve forgotten an important component of journalism: fact checking and research.
So, yes, all news sources are flawed, but only FOX actually consistently portrays a single political outlook and lets it affect their coverage. Even the WSJ, openly conservative in their editorials, screens that side from their reportage.
The true liberal media is outlets like Mother Jones, and note that while FOX and that side rely primarily on commentators, MJ, the Nation, and the like specialize in investigative, long-form reportage. Of, you know… fact.
TowerTone, et al,
You make a very good point about all cable/network news divisions having their own agenda, that being a corporate, profit-driven agenda. “Objective” journalism, if it even exists, is at best secondary to making money.
Having said that, Fox News stands alone in its blatant, self-admitted support of Republican and conservative ideas (not the same in the Bush era – ask Ron Paul). Fox’s President, Roger Ailes, former media adviser to Nixon/Reagan/HWBush, has made public admissions about his intent to use Fox to support the Bush administration. He has infamously written memos to his news producers to make Fox coverage “fairer” to right-wing talking points. Cheney feels he’ll get “fair” treatment on Fox, and does. All fine, there’s clearly a (shrinking) audience for this. Just don’t pretend that Fox’s right-wing editorializing and reposting White House press releases is bias-free news. And this pervasive, conspicuous bias is unique in the traditional media.
Frank, great posts. Dead on right. For those that claim Fox is more objective because of its bias, you might look a little closer. Colbert said it best, “reality has a well-known liberal bias.”
BTW, making money is great, but I think everyone would agree that the news product changes when ratings are the first priority.
I personally enjoy the picture of Keira Knightley and the button beneath her that says “Tap”. If only it were that easy…
BTW, I don’t “shout down” crappy reporting or obvious bias, or anything else I find on FOX. I don’t “shout down” my others when they present a flawed argument. I argue against it. With reason. You may not have recognized reason if you’ve been watching FOX for too long.
It very strange that right wingers here and elsewhere yell hallelujah for FOX, then claim that liberals can’t stand dissent… and then devolve to flaming people who are trying to discuss the issue. They claim to love discourse and alternate points of view, and then scream insults whenever they see it. At least it’s better than their president, who extolls the value of free speech even as he screens dissenters from his appearances, cordons them off into isolated “free speech zones” and/or has them arrested for such terroristic acts as wearing T-Shirts.
As far as I’m concerned, this whole country is a “Free Speech Zone”, and only one recent administration has tried to put that behind chain link.
News is America is mostly propaganda today… at least Fox news bring in people from both sides of the issue almost always… can’t say that about CNN or BBC. I have stopped watching these long ago.
Great post, Enteecee! I agree 100%.
Anyone reading this thread will quickly notice how the Fox advocates 1) readily admit Fox’s bias, 2) frequently claim widespread liberal bias in the traditional media without citing specifics, and 3) resort to ridicule and caricatures. They seem to be just out of ideas.
javester,
That is the most intelligence response I have ever had when talking to someone that is pro man made global warming!
I am not a trained scientist but I have developed products for many years. I deal with research (very serious product research) and find that we always question where we are and did we get all the correct information. That being said, when all hear that all scientists agree 100% on MMGW. Well I find that very strange and something is very odd.
Now to your response on modify behavior. Your point is well taken and I agree. I have always believed that we need to be responsible with the Earth’s resources. Much of the work we are doing carries responsible design (the stories I could tell about the work we have done).
But to yell fire or hypocritical preaching just does not fly with me (and others). These extremists have many silly answers with no awareness of consequence. Many want to shove the genie back into the bottle. But we cannot cut the worlds population and our need for energy.
There are great answers all round us!
wmd
Using my iPhone, I just tried my Fox bookmark, and it redirected me to the iPhone version of the site. It’s the fastest loading site I’ve used on the web. It makes Edge act like FIOS.
” Begins with F, ends with rank.”
I know a word beginning with ‘F’, and your comments are rank and lib.
Good for FoxNews. Nice to see they’re supporting the iPhone. Maybe it will help clear some of the liberal stench surrounding the Apple brand and the Apple fan base.
I’m a conservative with a 4-year old 15″ PowerBook G4, three iPods, two iPhones, an Intel Mac Pro, and a new 15″ MacBook Pro. I love the brand but hate the aura of liberalism surrounding it.
And I find your answers cogent, considered and non-hysterical…
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
And yes, its nice to know that we can carry on an intelligent discussion minus the name-calling.
One thing though, I’m not strictly “pro man-made global warming” (again, the problem with “labels”)
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” /> If anything, I consider myself an activist for a proactive intervention/correction of our consumption/energy production patterns.
As you rightly put, we cannot shove the genie back in the bottle as the world’s population continues to balloon and India and China middle classes start following Western consumption patterns.
I think we can all agree that we cannot stay with the status quo and we need to embark on a comprehensive energy makeover ala JFK’s “Man on the Moon in 10 years” clarion call.
We can do it!
Good for FoxNews. Nice to see they’re supporting the iPhone.
All the libs hop on and bash anything conservative here, and it gives the Apple brand (and macdailynews) a distinctly bad stench. I’m a conservative, and I’ve got a 4-year old 15″ PowerBook G4, three iPods, two iPhones, an Intel Mac Pro, and a new 15″ MacBook Pro.
Here’s a news flash for you: Apple owner does not equal liberal. Go have fun with your like-minded little selves on Kos and keep the Mac news apolitical here, please.
@ begins with “F’ and ends with “ucked up” and the rest that had a mouthful to say.
Are you saying that Fox gets its info wrong or just plain lies? Because if you are really as “critical thinkers” as you play, then you watch them all, and notice who leaves out what, and then you ask yourself, “well, I read this and this in the papers and on the web, and saw it on other networks, yet this channel didn’t give all the news that I had already seen” and then you wonder, what is it that was left out that matters? There was no lying, but not telling the entire story is just as misleading as fabrications. I see this all the time, but it is mainly on the major networks.
It is incredible to me that people on the right KNOW that Fox has a Conservative angle (and more info to that end. Hell, that is why so many people watch it). Yet when the left see a “mainstream” news network give a story that most on the right can spot a mile away as having a bias, the left just considers this standard reporting. Nothing slanted about it. But, oh, Goddam that Fox.
How can y’all be so enlightened when your head is buried in the sand?
TowerTone
You are a man after my own heart when it comes to news bias.
Everyone pics news channels and political parties like Football Teams these days and refuse to think for themselves.
Wait a minute…isn’t this a Mac page. Go APPLE!!!
politics aside, this is a really well done webapp for the iphone interface – kudos to fox news on the implementation
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />
ditto that, binklewis – the “media” section is pretty slick. I can’t say I’ve been all that excited about web pages being made just for iPhone – but stuff like this, why not?
javester,
Sorry about the label.
I believe we needed to do this comprehensive energy makeover back in the 80’s (I am telling my age). However the question is whose agenda, Al Gore’s?
The last thing we need in this world is more hype, with big Government answers. All I can see is more taxes, more problems and sloppy answers. And when the general public is not responding to things like carbon credits than what? I see many willing to head toward socialism even now.
Look at what happen to all the hype in the 60/70’s on the population explosion. I remember my school teachers telling us that by 2010 we will be standing shoulder to shoulder on this Earth. That’s if we don’t stop or seriously slow down the birth rate. The only thing that came out of that hype was Government Plain Parenthood.

If you’re liberal, you can’t see the liberal slant everywhere else, but Fox is so un-liberal that it shocks the shit straight of those who’ve never heard an opinion that doesn’t match theirs on TV before.
Clearly FNC is doing something right. They routinely and handily beat CNN and MSNBC combined.
“Clearly FNC is doing something right. They routinely and handily beat CNN and MSNBC combined.”
Addendum:And if it pisses this many libs off, then they are not only doing it right, they have perfected it.
“Not saying that there isn’t climate change, but this Socialist movement is completely out of hand.”
I love how anyone who wants to hide their head in the sand over important social issues just tries to associate anything they don’t want to hear with either socialism or fascism.
The overwhelming consensus from more than 90 percent of scientist is that global warming is real and is caused by humans.
Science isn’t about a consensus.
Wow!!! You lose your common sense when you get educated! That’s the worse excuse for illiteracy!
You obviously didn’t have enough sense to see the smiley at the end of my sentence. It was a joke. I gave the real reason in the next sentences.
here is NO dogma in Science – ALL theories are provisional. All prevailing theories are only held up by the community by consensus because they all try to keep testing or disproving it. As soon as the theory fails a fundamental test, a true scientist is more than happy to abandon it.
Please explain this to Al Gore and the scientists at the UN. They are not interested in disproving man-made global warming.
C’mon Man!!!! THINK for yourself! And THINK critically!
I do. That is why I haven’t bought in to the hysteria.
And what are the credentials of these dissenting scientists? Are they all with the Discovery Institute or funded by Big Oil?
What are the credentials of those in the consensus? Are they all in with the scare mongers like Gore?
I want to know what is really going on with the climate. I just happen to think the debate is far from over.
Man, the collective IQ of the USA is plummeting.
Man, the collective IQ of the USA is plummeting.
Tell me about it. All these people just believe what Gore and company tell them with no question.
I don’t think that’s exactly what I meant…
“Man, the collective IQ of the USA is plummeting.”
Yes, so we would appreciate it if you would leave.
That just doesn’t make any sense. Care to explain?
uhh, OK. If you are in the U.S., leave.
That will raise the IQ.
If you are not here, then you have no clue about our IQ.
See, you’re only proving that American IQs are dropping. You know full well I’m not American. That makes your comment kind of… well … Let’s put it this way: if you, TowerTone left the USA, then the collective IQ would rise about 2 points.
As far as my comments about the US collective IQ, it is based on the comments here. Sub 100 is how I would describe it.
Ha! MDN is still trying to block me. Amazing. What’s the matter, fellows, can’t take a little bit of informed criticism? Or are you just sore losers?
I have to agree that the overall intelligence of the U.S. is falling. I think it is due to the poor government (public) school system and parents who just don’t care.
People keep throwing money at the school system when the problem is simply discipline – or lack thereof. In Washington D.C., a study was done several years ago comparing public schools with private schools (divided into religious and non religious schools).
The public schools spent the most (about $15,000) per student, yet had the poorest scores. The non-religious private schools spent much less ($5,000-6,000) per student, and had slightly better scores. The Catholic schools spent the least ($3,000) per student, yet had much higher scores.
I think it boils down to discipline and the fact that the private schools don’t have to pander to political correctness. They can teach what needs to be taught.
I think the most serious issue is parents who don’t care and don’t take responsibility for their children’s education. Some parents expect the school to do everything, including discipline their children, without having to do anything themselves. I think that is a bigger problem than money.
begins with “F” and ends with “ucking stupid”.
1)You never told us where you lived, as far as I saw.
2)You could still be in America. We allow foreigners, you know.
You are amazing, Frank. And by “a mazing”, I mean “an asshole”.
Hey TowerTone,
That’s nice of you to “allow” foreigners.
Enough. This is just a waste of time.
rank:[ attrib. ] (esp. of something bad or deficient) complete and utter (used for emphasis) : rank stupidity | rank amateurs | a rank outsider.
that is hilarious.
The post says Fox is coming to the iPhone, if you want it.
As near as I can tell, this means that Al Gore is going to break wind and melt the earth. Or possibly that jackbooted thugs are going to force me to listen to Brit Hume and Bill O’Reilly. Maybe it means that I’ll be force fed liberal and/or conservative dogma until my ears bleed.
It would be interesting to read someone who is only slightly to one side or the other of an argument. Maybe if we get a little closer to the middle of the court we can stop calling each other names across the net.
Merry Christmas.
“You losers really need to find something better to do with your pathetic lives. Getting a job and actually contributing to society would be a good place to start…”
Liberals aren’t interested in employment. It’s those damned Rich people’s (ie. People who have worked to make something of themselves) obligation to buy their healthcare, and pay their bills, and give them FREE education, and Food Stamps, and FREE Public housing…..
Those rich people need to pay higher taxes so the libs can give their money away to liberals not interested in work…
SUCK MUH BALLS! <blink>
Me likey me good!
Me likey me good!
Me likey me good!
Me likey me good!
Me likey me good!
<div style=”text-decoration:line-through;”>
Looks like somebody’s been drinking.
How Sad.
Here’s the thing…..
A good computer is Political Philosophy Neutral (as a matter of fact, any good product is).
I know Jobs, Gore and Company are left wingers. So what? I always vote for the best candidate and although I’m a Republican, I have voted for Democrats in the past. I can’t think of anyone who has given Apple more free advertisement than Limbaugh has over the years (and for those of you with XM, Conservative talkshow host Jim Quinn does every morning – talking about his Mac and iPhone).
As far as Fox News goes, it is my news network of choice. I notice everyday that there are MBPs sitting in front of the anchors (and since I also watch CNN and MSNBC, I know that those anchors have Dell Laptops on their desks)….
It seems to me that MDN is not a good location for the political bashing (I know, I myself have been drawn into the argument here, and I apoligize). There are LOTS of other forums for that.
Give Fox Kudos for supporting the iPhone and Touch. If it works as well as SkyNews iphone page (which I enjoy on my Touch) it will be a good thing…
As a registered Independent, I must add that in my opinion, there is one, and only one person among the Repub and Dem field who is uniquely qualified.
That man’s name, is…
Joe Biden.
Just a little something for you Ifanbois too chew on, just some numbers too crunch while you sit there polishing your turd Iphone. Gartner predicts worldwide mobile phone sales will reach 1.13 billion units in 2007. What is Apple going to get out of that? Nokia’ sales into the channel once again exceeded the 100-million mark in the second quarter of 2007. Thats 100 million Ifanbois not 1 million, get it? Worldwide sales of mobile phones to end users in the second quarter of 2007 reached 270.9 million . These numbers appear to be really humbling to that turd Jobs made.
Oh well have a great fantasy…..
Yeah, that’s really funny, TowerTone. Now that that you figured out how to use a dictionary, maybe you can move your level of discourse from grade 4 to grade 5.
Thanks, Rank F, but I’m way ahead of you on that one…
testing the Frank name. Don’t mind me.
When will MDN for iPhone be launched?
Testing also
Well looky here. Frank is back!
Thanks MDN!!!
@ TowerTone:
You’re a tool, lapping at your government’s propaganda.
Gee, Rank with F, I looked back over my post and didn’t see anything about the government.
But let me ask you this. If the HilBillies return, does that automatically mean that all the libs are tools lapping up the governments propaganda? Or does it then become “truth”, simply because it plays into your self serving view of the world?
Your knee jerk will be to trash Bush, however, my question is what difference does it make if the followers believe in the ones elected?
Next kneejerk will be to promise a leftist agenda will be a more open and honest administration, at which point I will inform you that you have already become a tool of government propaganda.
Sorry to cut you off at the kneejerks by filling in your blanks, but they are so predictable (I have a 4 year old grandson, so this is easy) that I thought I would save you the trouble of having to post that dribble and embarrass yourself….not that you would know.
Dear TowerTone,
I must express my surprise that you’ve ever reproduced; I never would have thought a hand could be impregnated.
Does this mean I should refer to you as “gramps” from now on?
To answer your question, I’m referring not to Bush, though I do find him repulsive as the next murderer. I should point out that I also consider Bill Clinton to be an immoral murderer as well.
And no, I do not promise a “leftwing” agenda. The one agenda I do propose is the people of the USA becoming aware of what their government is doing around the world in order to have those people stop it.
If you don’t think you’re lapping at your government’s propaganda, explain me this, then: why is it that the wealthiest 1% of your population has seen incredible growth over the past 20-30 years, while the average working wage has fallen just as dramatically? If the market is growing, doesn’t that mean the upper 1% and the rest of the population should have growing wealth?
But instead your schools are not funded, your hospitals are inaccessible, your social services depleted, your pensions are drying up. Why is it Philadelphia is such a sh*thole to live in? Tell me why so many of your people live in 3rd world conditions, and people accept it so willingly?
Frank
Why don’t you give all your money to charity and move to D.C. and become a permanent protester?
I’m assuming it’s because you don’t really give a damn, you just like to bitch.
And what country are you from, so that we can draw parallels to what they do? Don’t want to say?
And what is your registered name here? Once again, don’t want to say? Scared to use it?
You are boring and pointless, Frank.
Now, I have to go out into the real world and work. Consider that part of the answer to all of your childish questions.
Yo Gramps,
I don’t think you get it. If you insist, the country I am from is … Greenland. Happy now?
I would like to point out how well they have indoctrinated you. I asked you a logical question about why, if the market is growing in an unprecedented rate, is it the wealthiest 1% are getting wealthier why the poor are getting poorer at a equally fast rate? You automatically react emotionally, angrily. You become defensive, hostile.
Who are you defending? It’s not yourself, because you’re on the losing end of the stick. You and your family member are getting poorer and poorer. Your grandchildren will grow up even poorer, all the while there is an amazing growth of the economy.
So, who are you defending?
Does it not make sense that if the market and the economy are growing, so should the wages and the social services of the general population? But we see the opposite: in the face of increasing wealth in the USA, social services are being gutted, poverty is increasing, and wages are falling.
These are things you should be thinking about if you care about the future of your little handlets.
Well, I guess the delay in TowerTone’s “discourse” is because he’s currently trying to dig up as much dirt as he can on Greenland. Go for the gold, gramps.
Stillllllll waiting… You gonna respond, Mr. Belvedere?
So many posts, so few brains. The story is about an iPhone application from Fox news. Get off of your soap boxes pin heads ,most people could give a shit what your opinions are.
All right, Frank, I am back from being around the adults. What? You didn’t understand what my last two sentences meant? No surprise there.
Now, fRank, what do you propose America should do to even all this out? I am sure you have an answer. Here is some real info to help you sort it even more.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB119786208643933077.html
A lot of big words there, Rank. Good luck. America is waiting. We need you. Please help us.
Oh, and thanks in advance.
Dear Grampa TowerTone,
You’ve only proven my assertion that you’re lapping at your government’s propaganda.
First of all, it breaks it down according only to income and tax. But you know very well income and wealth are not fully correlated. Disparity of income is nothing compared to disparity of WEALTH, which is what we’re discussing. Take Steve Jobs, for example. He’s incredibly wealthy, yet has an income of $1.
That’s point 1. Point 2 is that this blog’s “analysis” is a carefully crafted example of skewing interpretations. It does this by using comparative proportional percentages rather than actual data.
What would really be interesting is to see the results of a study not in terms of percentages, but in terms of actual numbers. The upper 1% may account for 39% of tax revenue in 2005, but if the government has slashed taxes in half, then that 1% would be paying LESS in taxes. So, for example, the poor who make $20,000 a year pay $200 less a year, which is enough for an iPod nano; the rich 1% who have “earned” $100,000,000 are now paying $1,000,000 less a year, even if their proportions increased.
And this doesn’t even get into the real issue of erosion of funding for schools, health, social services, and so on.
What you quote is simply more propaganda. There’s no substance in that study. It’s just clever marketing, and you bought it up. I can’t believe you even defend it so outright. They’re getting rich off your back, don’t you care? Or has their indoctrination worked so well you’re ready to defend <strong>them before your own family?
Uh, so where is your solution, Oh Great FrankenSenseless? Stretch that mind beyond seeing only problems. Lets see some progress! Roll them joints,er, sleeves up and get us straight with the right , I mean left, way to do this.
Come on man, America needs you! We are all but blind lemming robot zomby whateverthefuck you can think of next. Jesus. There you hold the answers to World Peace and all you can do is dilly dally with 5th grade nonsense from the likes of me? GET MOVING WHILE THERE IS STILL TIME!!!!
Well, that’s a good question. What does one do?
Usually people react in two ways:
1. Stick their head in the sand, accept it, tacitly collaborating with it. This is the typical shrugging on the shoulders and saying life goes on.
2. Deny it, sometime vehemently.
The thing about these two reactions is that they’re the ones that have been taught to us.
But rather than “reactions”, which is what is expected of us, there are constructive actions to take:
1. Become aware<strong>. Read. For example, start reading. But don’t read what is written verbatim. Look for the hidden assumptions. It’s those hidden assumptions that need to be addressed. It’s not hard, though it does take persistence.
2. <strong>Get out of the country. Go visit other countries, especially the places that you think are “less civilised” than Modern America. I wouldn’t recommend going to a violent place like Iraq, unless you’re really prepared. The biggest problem this world faces is unilateral perspective. If you have only one perspective, you are in serious jeopardy of being misinformed and manipulated.
3. Get involved. Join community groups. Join public interest groups. The powers that be are counting on the general population to be segmented, divided, attacking each other. When you take a step toward investing in your community, you will overcome quite easily that animosity that has been instilled in all of us.
4. Check out polls. There are research institutes that conduct polls of popular attitudes on issues. Find out what it is people care about most, and you’ll be surprised to find what you see.
I could list many more things to do, but I’m short on time at the moment. Even if you do one of those suggestions, you’ll be way on your way to making the future a good place, rather than one to be feared.
In the end, the major thing to do is overcome the automatic assumption that nothing can be done. From that, everything will follow. Trust in the conscience of normal everyday people. It is not because of people’s immorality that bad things happen in the world; it is because they are distracted and taught to be misinformed.
Frank-
that is the exact same thing I have been saying (that the liberals always say), meaning, you just gave absolutely no answers to any problems. You may have given us a roadmap, which is very condescending.
You know, seriously, I would love to see you give ONE concrete answer on how to solve anything. Instead, you will come back with statements that I am too stupid to follow these suggestions.
Grow up, Frank. It’s a real world out there.
