SeekingAlpha blogger “Tech101” gives 10 reasons why Apple should buy AMD.
Among Tech101’s reasons:
• Apple’s best computer system architecture, operation system [sic], user interface, and applications will combine with AMD’s most advanced and genuine multi-core CPUs and energy saving technology
• Intel will gain a more balanced competitor, which is healthy for the entire semiconductor industry, and even Intel may benefit from it
• It will keep AMD American
Complete inanity here.
MacDailyNews Take: And now you know why his handle is Tech101. When he finishes the class, maybe he’ll understand that it would make more sense for Apple to buy Orange Julius than AMD.
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “Judge Bork” for the heads up.]
Should Apple buy Ford?
Wow, I didn’t know that Orange Julius was still around…I haven’t seen one in years…
Apple buying a silicon provider….looooooooool
vertical integration is not a stupid idea! It can be an extremely strong method of increasing profitability. The new AMD quad core processors are less ‘cobbled together’ than the similar offerings from Intel. I would suggest their architecture could be considered better engineered (evolution is a wonderful thing in cpus just as elsewhere: the endless competition improves everybody)
Downside: #1 rule of business: stick to your core business. Otherwise you end up like Microsh*t trying to be all things to everybody and ending being nothing good to anybody. Apple isn’t a chip maker. The Amd chips would end up falling behind in quality because apple wouldn’t have the same imperative to improve them as an AMD does having to compete in the world.
