RUMOR: Apple to debut updated MacBooks soon

“Apple is set to introduce updated MacBook laptops following the release of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard later this month, sources report. With Leopard on track to hit stores October 26, the updated MacBooks could be consumer hands by the first half of November, if not sooner,” Think Secret reports.

“It is unclear at this time whether this means the MacBook will maintain its current architecture and receive faster processors, from the current 2.0/2.16GHz configurations to 2.16/2.33GHz, or whether it will adopt the newer Santa Rosa architecture that the MacBook Pro gained earlier this year,” Think Secret reports.

  1. i agree with “more” on the topic of video memory (RDF is another story) but yeah, at LEAST update to intel x3100… it’s not fantastic but it’s supposed to be quite a bit better than gma950. the gpu is the ONLY reason i’d consider upping to a macbook pro… they get a halfway decent gpu in the non-pro, and it becomes the perfect laptop for me.

  2. The glossy screens rock. Unless you have to deal with super harsh lighting ( I have used mine everywhere ) I don’t know why you wouldn’t like the glossy. They are brighter, sharper, and have richer colors and blacks. My 2 cents.

  3. Laptop, laptop, laptop… When are the new Mac Pros coming out? There have been three laptop upgrades (three each for the MB and MBP) since Apple last updated their Mac Pro.

    Just my pet gripe ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

  4. The question is, who would use a Mini Mac Lap. If you have the iPhone wouldn’t that be cannibalisation?

Unless its for the business market. Then the pricing would be worth watching.

Let’s see who will get the last post in this thread.

  5. I was waiting to buy a Macbook till Leopard hits, but if they are going to change them to the aluminum look, I may go ahead and buy one now. I really want a white macbook, and am NOT in favor of dropping the white look in everything for the brushed aluminum. So if they do change them, I’ll probably order a refurbed white one from Apple after Leopard hits. I don’t care what new specs they add, I want the white.

  6. You said,
“I won’t buy if they still have glossy screens.” — Yep and I bet you would buy a Rolls Royce but you do not like the color of the hub caps. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

“My friend was looking at switching from a Windows PC to a Mac laptop, but couldnt afford the MacBook Pro with matte screen.” — Again with the matte screen. He only wanted a macBook pro cause it had a matte screen??? Get a Mac Pro and buy a pc screen. Is he a troll? ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

“A MacBook with matte screen would have made a sale, but Apple doesn’t make them anymore.” — Again with the matte screen breaking the deal. Trolling for minnows?? ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

“My friend came to the conclusion that the limited hardware choices and the learning curve switching to Mac OS X wasn’t worth the trouble.” ——- Your friend has no clue, or is a troll, or has no clue on how to troll. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

“I hope someone is listening in Cupertino.” ——– No, they are not. They have become very good at not listening to trolls. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

  7. I don’t like glossy screens either.
    That makes me a troll?

I still have my PowerBook 170, PowerBook 1400cs, PowerBook G3 and PowerBook G4.

Just because the industry on the PC side has shifted to glossy doesn’t mean it’s better.
