Apple today released iPhone 1.1.1 Update which includes additional new features, bug fixes, and supercedes all previous versions.
New features include:
• iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store
• Louder speakerphone and receiver volume
• Home Button double-click shortcut to phone favorites or music controls
• Space bar double-tap shortcut to intelligently insert period and space
• Mail attachments are viewable in portrait and landscape
• Stocks and cites in Stocks and Weather can be re-ordered
• Apple Bluetooth Headset battery status in the Status Bar
• Support for TV Out
• Preference to turn off EDGE/GPRS when roaming internationally
• New Passcode lock time intervals
• Adjustable alert volume
iPhone 1.1.1 Update is available via iTunes’ iPhone Update (152.3MB).
MacDailyNews Note: We have tested the update on a up-to-date, kosher (locked) iPhone and, after the download, it took about 8 minutes for the iPhone to restart, verify the software, update the iPhone’s firmware, and restart again. The phone then waited 10 seconds while re-activating with AT&T. All new features work as advertised. We purchased an album (Foo Fighters “Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace for US$9.99) via the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store and downloaded the album via Wi-Fi in about 3 minutes. Reconnecting the iPhone to iTunes caused iTunes to automatically transfer the purchased album to our iTunes library. It worked perfectly.

iPod Touch 1.1.1 just popped up also.
Only lists “bug fixes”
Support for TV OUT????
thought this was physically impossible…that’s awesome!
Crash!
Had to do a restore. This is an unmodded iPhone. I hope it works.
Worked Fine
Store is fast
Downloading… it’s a big ‘un.
Why TV out?
• Louder speakerphone and receiver volume
THANK YOU.
Made my day snappier.
Yeah! I been waiting around the computer all day hoping it would arrive.
“Louder speakerphone and receiver volume” – I second that.
Could really use a way to delete multiple emails though.
“Why TV out?”
Why no verb, caveman?

worked like a charm. no problems at all!
my phone calls are snappier
How do you turn off Edge?
Audio does not seem louder.
Mail does not go into landscape mode.
What am I doing wrong?
@ Bill
Amen to that. Have you sent Apple that suggestion via their suggestion box. Don’t have the link, sorry.
my iphone just fixed a plumbing leak in our bathroom!
Hey C1…is the volume a lot better? I wanted to buy my elderly uncle an iPhone, but I was leery of the low ring volume…he needs a loud ringer and speaker.
It’s been almost three months and Apple has simply not gone far enough in updating the iPhone. When I’m on the road, I really depend on being able to manipulate 3D visualizations of simian genome models. I also run algorithms that test proofs on Fermat’s Last Theorem and in the background I need to be able to render high definition, catastrophic weather and explosion scenarios. The iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store and louder speakerphone and receiver volume are nice additions but I’m really disappointed.
I sure hope the next software update for my iPhone let’s me get back to work. Or at least adds some really cool games.
C1 is right. The speaker volume is a lot better. Just surf’d the wifi itunes, listened to some demos, it a ton better.
The note said ATTACHMENTS in mail can be viewed in landscape mode now. I agree though. I want MAIL in landscape mode. Makes it easier to increase font sizes on some emails I get.
Adding the ‘tv out’ capability is awesome! Now if they support Keynote or Powerpoint I could just take this thing along for meetings/presentations instead of my Macbook.
Also, it looks as though they changed the Calculator icon. Or am I just imagining this change?
@Allan
“How do you turn off Edge?”
Settings >> General >> Network >> Data Roaming
“Mail does not go into landscape mode.”
Mail attachments, not messages as I understand it.
@Spark
yes
Allan asked, “What am I doing wrong?”
Um, you’re stabbing your Nokia repeatedly with your thumb?
(kidding)

@mini: You’re right about the Calculator icon.
Oh boy! Is that a new calculator icon? Matches the touch.
