Apple’s Mac OS X Leopard close to going Gold

“It appears that Leopard is now Final Candidate!” Alexandros Roussos reports for MacScoop.

Build 9A559’s “seed note indicates very few known issues and is overall very stable according to feedback we were given on it,” Roussos reports.

This “leaves no more than two to three weeks for Apple to release a Golden Master build,” Roussos reports.

MacDailyNews Note: A typical software release cycle:
• Pre-alpha (testing and design)
• Alpha (about 1/3rd complete)
• Beta (usually the first release to public testers, bug fixing, largely feature-complete)
• Release candidate (Called “Final” above; code complete, or no new code being added, with ongoing source code fixes)
• Gold Master (master copy of a release)

Almost there!

  1. @ Caution ahead,

It has nothing to do with blind faith. The faith we have comes from concrete precedent. In the previous 5 releases of OSX, Apple has not dropped the ball. As such, I have no reason to think that now is any different.

Additionally, my experience on boards such as these tells me that you are little more than a troll. You want to stir things up a bit, make some waves, feel important. Maybe you sided with and stuck by M$ for all these years and your ego is so unwilling to admit that you were wrong that you now have to lash out at those who chose wisely.

    Grow up.

  2. Unlike ‘tards like you, the rest of us will actually TRY Leopard before passing judgement.

You know Leopard is not ready because……? You expect us to believe that you have inside info? Go peddle your crap at C/NET or some other dumb ass PC site.

I don’t know what you and your ilk think you can accomplish by writing this drivel, especially here.

  3. Caution Ahead:
“Message to users: if third party stuff is not working call their support line, not us.”

Umm, who is “us”? Are you a tech for a Mac support shop? A Mac shop owner? I want to make sure I do not call you when I have problems. But I will call you on release day when things are working properly to tell you that you are an ass clown.

    The Dude abides.

  4. I love my Mac Mini G4, and its been running fab, especially after upgrading to a 160GB 5400rpm internal drive.
Cant wait to upgrade to 10.5… although it is getting tempting to save abit more to buy a whole new machine, maybe the iMac. (Faster processing, Front Row, iSight, clears alot of clutter on the desk, etc)

How many other Mac Mini G4 owners out there with the same dilemma?

  5. Okay- different subject everyone…
I live in a rural area where we can’t get cable, dsl, or wireless or even cell phones, but we get satellite and I have read that I can’t do video calls or voip over satellite on the new (or older version) in iChat!. No other options?

  6. I have a macbook runnng leopard, linux and vista. Vista and Ubuntu 7.10 absolutely SMOKE leopard in performance and usability. This comparison is made on the EXACT SAME piece of hardware. Mac OS X feels like garbage while you navigate through it. I, unfortunately, have to use it quite a bit and I can never get used to the quirks and quandries. Tiger was the same way.
