  1. What was that?
    No third party support??
    Aiee! Sandboxed into Safari???

No wonder there is no third party support for the iphone!
No wonder there are no third party programs for the iphone!!
No wonder nothing will work on the iphone because it is a locked platform by Apple!!!

    FUD! FUD!! FUD!!! FUD!!!!

  2. What you are failing to recognize is that this is not support for the iPhone. This is support for the iPod part of the phone. The phone is still nicely locked up. Some people have managed a very nice HACK to get you into ringtones, but Apple could circumvent that with a quick patch, and I suspect they will.

Developers still cannot write applications for the phone and install those apps on the phone. What remains is a pathetic scheme for web based applications. I.e. apps that are PAINFULLY slow to load, that you can only use if you have a connection to the Internet, that are cumbersome and quirky as Safari is anything but a delivery platform, and that are slow even on WiFi.

So yeah, there’s no 3rd party support.

    That ain’t FUD, it’s FACT.
