Apple Inc.’s iTunes Store continues its meteoric rise and is now the third largest retailer of music in the United States (including brick and mortar) with 9.8% market share, according to a survey by NPD Group based on first quarter of 2007.
Wal-Mart currently holds 15.8% and Best Buy has 13.8% (BestBuy.com has 1.1% market share) to place ahead of Apple’s iTunes Store. Amazon.com Inc. dropped to fourth with 6.7%.

I agree, and I rent/buy far more movies than I buy CDs. Old DVDs are becoming harder to come by. If I miss a good movie in the cinema it is unlikely I will now see it as I usually don’t want to buy it – more for the storage space than cost – and there are no longer any video rental stores nearby.

I didn’t know there was an iTunes Store. When you live in the heaven that is Zune Marketplace you tend to be oblivious to the also-rans like the crappy iTunes Store. Sony’s Connect is pretty awesome too.
I’m not a tattoo person. Too rebellious like the high school girls who come back from spring break with tattoos. Too rough and individualistic a crowd. I did however put a new hole in my body to accommodate the custom-made Zune jewelry I picked up. I won’t tell you where I put it other than to say it hurts when I pee. Zune FOREVER!

They better get that second campus built and SJ better get some (and delegate to) bench strength. This company is getting huge and is becoming a whole different order of management challenge.
And when you look at Apple’s momentum in ALL of its markets, management and execution is really its only challenge. They could easily be looking at 20+% in consumer notebooks, #1 in music retailing and a 10% market share in phones.
And to do all those things what do they need? Don’t fsck up!
