Several MacDailyNews readers are reporting the airing of a new iPhone ad (the 4th) focusing on Safari’s internet browsing capabilities in detail.
This is not a watered down version of the Internet. Or the mobile version of the Internet. Or the kinda sorta looks like the Internet. It’s just the Internet… [ring] …on your phone.
Apple’s “Watered Down” iPhone ad:

[Thanks to MacDailyNews Readers “Steve,” “Fred Mertz,” and “Lori” for the heads up.]
@Mikal…
Nice pick up.
yeah, this is definitely NOT the “kinda-sorta-looks-like-the-internet” internet, like on this poser of an iPhone wanna-be (HTC Touch)

If they really want to sell a lot of these phones, they should change the internet site in the commercial from the New York Times to a free Bukake site.
me… I checked out that iPhone wanna be interface.. ugh.. All I have to say is keep trying, imitators… you’ll only make yourselves look worse.
It’s becoming increasingly clear: There’s the iPhone, and then there’s everything else.
ince I am only able to use Safari on my iPhone – does this mean that I will have to put up with all the friggen ads – since I cannot use PithHelmet or Stand or SAFT or better yet, FIREFOX?

I’d imagine you could always use RSS feeds to avoid ads.
p.s. here’s another video review of the HTC Touch that shows more clearly just how lame an attempt to copy the iPhone it really is. they just don’t get it, do they?

p.p.s. regarding the HTC Touch, FakeSteve says “We love products like this. Just makes our phone look better.”
MizuInAus, I have heard of people that actually survided the ads…. hang in there man, get a life…

safari blocks ads better than firefox, i dont have any problem with ads at all with safari.
but be my guest and get a fucking blackberry. see how you like that browsing experience.
hum… No “Use requires minimum new 2 year activation plan.” with the AT&T logo. Something new here?
Apple has posted it now:

I think the point the ad is making is excellent, and that this is generally a good ad. But I don’t like the slightly pregnant pause at the beginning where he says:
This is not a…[pregnant pause]…watered down version…

And I’m not usually picky about these sorts of things. It just seems odd. Yes, I know it’s done for emphasis, but it somehow doesn’t seem to work.
And I think all of the plucking in the music runs the risk of stepping on the voice over and distracting from it. They should mix the music just a tad lower and eq some of the brightness out of it.
did anyone else notice that the line about a require 2-year agreement has been dropped from the AT&T screen in the new “watered down” ad. What do you guys make of this?
to STEVE:
i was just about to post that. kind of curious. 4 ads, and only one of them doesnt say it. hardly a blunder apple would make. CURIOUS!!! VERY CURIOUS INDEED!
The music was apparently ‘composed’ for the undemanding under-fives.
But why? They couldn’t possibly be a target group for this ad.!
actually. i just saw the “How To” add on comedy central, and at the end there was no “use requires 2 year agreement”. WHAT COULD THIS MEAN?!?!?!!
Ad has been posted on the Apple site:
http://www.apple.com/iphone/ads/ad4/
I luv the “How to” video and the “Internet” one.
That’s… what I’m talking ’bout!
when on apple’s iphone page with all the ads listed, the page does not load properly in safari, but it’s fine in firefox. i get no pictures in safari for some reason?? Also, the thing about the 2 year contract has now been removed from all the adverts
These ads are freaking brilliant. People at work are talking about it for the first time. It’s definitely having a huge impact. One guy said one of the commercials boggled his mind and that now he and his wife must have one. How and the hell am I going to get one the first day now???? UGH!!!
whey kool
Aaaggh what’s that music?
