Apple debuts new iPhone ad (with video)

Several MacDailyNews readers are reporting the airing of a new iPhone ad (the 4th) focusing on Safari’s internet browsing capabilities in detail.

This is not a watered down version of the Internet. Or the mobile version of the Internet. Or the kinda sorta looks like the Internet. It’s just the Internet… [ring] …on your phone.

  1. This is fantastic, actually Nokia uses an derivative of the Safari browser, but of course without touch screen. This is also a huge blow to WAP sites and developers. Apple is truly changing the mobile industry starting June 29th. All I can say is “it’s about time.”

  2. Since I am only able to use Safari on my  iPhone – does this mean that I will have to put up with all the friggen ads – since I cannot use PithHelmet or Stand or SAFT or better yet, FIREFOX?

What I really want on this itty bitty screen is all the ads running! It just thrills the sh!t outta me!

NOT even close… actually I would like to see built-in limiting of all of the ads… unless AT&T is not going to charge for data download volume – then I would just like to see ALL of the ads disappear… BUT this is exactly the internet… just like the ads says…

    Ba-d-ring! On your phone…

And I love this thing – can’t wait to have one. Just had this one crawling around inside my head.

    MDN = actually

  3. “The smug apple background music is annoying.”

How the fsck can music be smug?

That shit is beautiful. Everytime I hear it playing on some television in my house, my ears perk up at attention.

  4. TBWAChiatDay, Apple’s preferred marketing firm, is doing all the iPhone marketing. This is another victory for Apple in their deal with AT&T, as they use advertising firms.

This is the same company that made the legendary “1984” ad.

  5. Want to get people camping out for iPhone already? It’s pretty simple to get it going really.

Just get a few buddies together with lawn chairs, a sleeping-bag and such, and hit a mall and take a few snapshots and send them and the story about people starting to camp out for the iPhone launch date to all these Apple-related sites, and there we go.

It will instantly spawn tons of kids with no ambition to start camping out at Apple Stores to ensure they are the first to blow their folks money on an iPhone.

As for me, I think I’ll wait a week or two, then walk in and just get one.

I’d imagine you could always use RSS feeds to avoid ads.

safari blocks ads better than firefox, i dont have any problem with ads at all with safari.
but be my guest and get a fucking blackberry. see how you like that browsing experience.

  8. I think the point the ad is making is excellent, and that this is generally a good ad. But I don’t like the slightly pregnant pause at the beginning where he says:

    This is not a…[pregnant pause]…watered down version…

And I’m not usually picky about these sorts of things. It just seems odd. Yes, I know it’s done for emphasis, but it somehow doesn’t seem to work.

And I think all of the plucking in the music runs the risk of stepping on the voice over and distracting from it. They should mix the music just a tad lower and eq some of the brightness out of it.

  9. when on apple’s iphone page with all the ads listed, the page does not load properly in safari, but it’s fine in firefox. i get no pictures in safari for some reason?? Also, the thing about the 2 year contract has now been removed from all the adverts

  10. These ads are freaking brilliant. People at work are talking about it for the first time. It’s definitely having a huge impact. One guy said one of the commercials boggled his mind and that now he and his wife must have one. How and the hell am I going to get one the first day now???? UGH!!!
