Apple today released AirPort Extreme Update 2007-003 which is recommended for all Intel-based Macintosh computers and includes compatibility updates for certain third-party access points configured to use WPA or WPA2 security.
System Requirements:
• Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later
• Intel-based Macintosh
• AirPort Extreme Update 2007-002
AirPort Extreme Update 2007-003 is available via Software update and also as a standalone installer.
More info and download link (3MB) here.
Can anyone post if this fixes compatibility problems with broadcom based routers (like the linksys wrt350n)? I want one that I can put DD-WRT on.
I would like somebody from Apple to confirm or advise that AirPort Extreme is safe from wi-fi crooks. i.e people who access the web via your wi-fi to avoid leaving a trace on their computers of where they have been.
Crabapple,
As far as I know, there is no way to hack a Mac wifi connection without the password. As long as you have WPA activated on your Airport base station, you’re fine.
Anyone?
Anyone seems to be me…?
Anyway, there’s a good way to protect a wlan”
1. Setup a closed network
2. Use mac address filter
3. Use WPA/WPA2 encryption
Either somebody tries hard to connect to your wlan or leaves you alone choosing one of thousand other networks without protection to surf for free. All 3 features used together are not to crack(?). Did anybody have success so far?
Anyone there to continue?
@ Crabapple: Let us know in case Apple drops you a line…
This update combined with the QT 7.1.6 update makes emptying the Trash blazingly fast.

By the way MDN. That flashing ‘YOU WON’ animation on the right is not good design practice. And garanteed I can com back in 2 weeks and I’ll still be the 999,999th visitor.
Thanks for posting the crappy link @ 3:36am with my name, whoever that was.
Kenny
Your router needs to support WPA before your Mac can connect using WPA.
Check your router settings…dare I say it?? Read the user guide
