Microsoft has released Office 2004 for Mac 11.3.1 Update which, according to Microsoft, “contains several updates to enhance security and stability, including fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer’s memory with malicious code.”
This update applies to: Office 2004 Standard Edition, Office 2004 Student and Teacher Edition, Office 2004 Professional Edition, Word 2004, Excel 2004, PowerPoint 2004, Entourage 2004.

Yeah, MS has pulled the download from their site. Was not intended for public release yet.

Too bad it won’t include the ability to read Office’s new file format.
Can you imagine how bad this software update must be if it didn’t meet the “quality bar” for release? I can’t. I once used Windows 3.0.
