Apple files for ‘PowerSong’ trademark

“On November 16, the European Office of ‘Harmonization in the Internal Market’ published Apple’s latest trademark/service mark application for ‘POWERSONG.’ The records show that Apple’s priority filing was made in Trinidad and Tobago in May 2006 under application number 37260. Apple has listed Powersong under International Classes 9, 38 and 42. The most relevant is Apple’s listing of International Class 38 which revolves around communications and telecommunications services generally, with emphasis on MP3 web sites and delivery of digital music online specifically – which is in tune, of course, with Powersong,” Neo reports for MacNN.

Neo reports, “In light of recent news about the iPhone-like device being readied for early 2007, by some accounts, Apple’s new trademark Powersong will certainly fuel the fire on all things iPhone.”

Note that “PowerSong” is part of the US$29 Nike+iPod Sports Kit. From the Nike+iPod menu, you can set a PowerSong. When you want to hear this song during your workout, press and hold the center button for instant sonic motivation. When your PowerSong is over, the previous playlist resumes.

  1. I have a certain number of songs I call PowerSongs…those that every time you hear them make you want to move, and always make you feel better…
But I suspect this might have more to do with the Nike/iPod combo.

    What’s your guess?

  2. “I thought pressing PowerSong dialed up “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivior…”

next year pressing PowerSong will dial up “Eye of the Lepord” ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

  3. I’m still waiting for Trojan + iPod to strike a kit so you can hit “PowerSong” when you really need it. I’ve been married for a while so I need a boost once in a while.

For you younger guys, you could slow things down to prevent that prematurity thing (e.g. SlowerSong).

I’d hope this doesn’t increase the number of couples making love wearing their iPods. Maybe a splitter cable for the headphones to increase the intimacy.
