Apple releases Mac firmware updates

Apple has released a variety of firmware updates:

Mac Pro (mid 2006) EFI Firmware Update 1.0 (1.8MB)
This EFI Firmware Update fixes several Boot Camp and start up issues on Mac Pro computers.

Firmware Restoration CD 1.1 (14.5MB)
This update is used to restore the firmware of an Intel-based iMac (early & mid 2006), Mac mini (early 2006), MacBook Pro (early 2006), Mac Book (early 2006), or Mac Pro (mid 2006) to original factory condition. It can only be used to restore the Firmware after an interrupted or failed update.

Mac Pro SMC Firmware Update (less than 1MB)
The SMC Firmware Update adjusts fan behavior in the Mac Pro.

  1. I was wondering about the fan…this is excellent. Its like they read my mind! Not having any start-up issues though.

    BTW…if anybody has the urge, go get a Mac Pro. I am super-happy with mine. Aperature runs like butter on it.

  2. Yea kiddies, now we have two firmware levels to worry about.

    The original firmware and now EFI.

    You see EFI firmware is all Intels creation, not Apple’s.

    So as Trusted Computing takes further hold on Intel based Mac’s, we will see more EFI firmware updates.

    What’s even more sneaky is most Apple developers have nothing to do with EFI, so Apple can pass these EFI updates right by just about everyone.

    So if the MIAA or the RIAA want’s certain lockdowns to occur, Intel through Apple makes a EFI update.

    Wonderful ain’t it?
