Microsoft offers ‘Arrested Development’

“Microsoft will run free episodes of the quirky TV comedy ‘Arrested Development’ through its MSN Video service later this year, making the show available online for the first time,” Elizabeth M. Gillespie reports for The Associated Press.

“MSN, the software maker’s Internet unit, said Wednesday it will run display and video ads instead of charging viewers to watch the critically lauded show that was a hit with a relatively small but fiercely loyal audience,” Gillespie reports. “MSN will have exclusive portal rights to syndicate the show’s 53 episodes for three years.”

MacDailyNews Take: “Arrested Development.” Isn’t that the code name of Microsoft’s Windows unit?

It’s really too bad. Back in January, we suggested to Fox Entertainment President Peter Liguori that they breathe new life into the show via Apple’s iTunes Music Store. Stuck with MSN for three years, it’s deader than dead now. Fox must really hate that show.

  1. And “Chariots Of The Gods?” says it was aliens. Look, Russia, parts of Africa and South America have a wealth of natural resources. What we (luckily) have were Founding Fathers who set up a system that enables MOST everyone to achieve what they may. Thanks for the history lesson, but I have studied it for most of my history. Luck only helps those on the right path. How lucky is it to find a dollar just before being hit by a train?

  2. TowerTone, you want to pretend you are educated on matters, but the fact is you are just filled with half baked ideas that support your own weird political agenda’s. You honestly think a llama is as good as a horse? You think beans are as good as grains? Of all the domesticated livestock, 90% of them come from the fertile crescent, and you think this doesn’t have a massive bearing on the development of the world? If you want to spout your ideas, do some research.

  3. That’s exactly why you didn’t “get” the show. It is not your typical brainless sitcom. It is highly dependent on continuity, and an insane amount of jokes are so subtle, or depend on future jokes to “get” that you will find yourself finding each episode funnier each time you watch it.

It’s precisely people like you, who probably tune into a random episode while eating dinner or polishing your nails, missing not only the witty dialogue, but everything that goes on in the background, deciding the show “isn’t good” and never watching it again.

    You’re flat-out wrong.

  4. G-spot
I couldn’t tell you if a llama was as good as a horse, I’ve never tasted either. You argued that America was great because of luck-I said luck has no use without giudelines to take advantage of it. Now you go back 6000 years to Mesopotamia.WTF? A lot of good all that did them. They have the oil and STILL can’t regain the grace their past societies had before 632 A.D. Call it a draw. I am proud of America, you are glad to dwell on its faults. I am too stupid to understand the aid we give the world, and you are so wise to not see. OH-there goes my oven alarm, I guess my ideas are now fully baked.

  5. That 70’s Show ( retread of Happy Days set in the 1970’s)

Funny, I don’t remember the Fonz and Richie and their friends sitting around in a circle and getting high, not to mention having a lot of sex. Must have missed that on Happy Days…

TowerTone, shut up and take your stupid delusional flag waving rants to Free Republic or some other radical right wing forum, PLEASE!

  6. Robert
If you would bother reading all of the comments, you would see that my rants are rebuttals to delusional left wing crap aimed at me for not “hating” FOX. I don’t need to hate anything to make me feel superior, I don’t have to let a challenge go unanswered, and I sure don’t need you to tell me where to speak my mind. So BUTT THE F*CK OUT. Also, I guess you missed the episode where Richie and Fonzie had drug induced gay sex.

  7. Things that TowerTone made up about me:

“You argued that America was great because of luck”

Not really. It was more of an argument that certain people’s have advanced as far as they have because of geography (which I characterized as luck), and to look down on culture’s that haven’t advanced simply because of their location and resulting resources is ignorant.

“I am proud of America, you are glad to dwell on its faults”

huh? I am proud of America too. We are such a creative country. We invented Snowboarding, Skateboarding, Surfing, etc. I think many things are so great about the USA. There are other things I don’t like. I’m not gonna turn a blind eye in the name of patriotism. That’s what too many Germans did in 1938.

  8. Oh Hey, G Spunk
Another day and another version of your truth. And to think some say FOX News lies! Anyone still interested in this gibberish is smart enough to scroll up and see what you said about luck, and to see that I never even mentioned cultures. Funny you should mention Nazi Germany as if we are even close to that situation. It is a fact that Libs and socialist were afraid to confront and destroy that menace much like they are today in reguards to Iran.
    Tag-you’er it!

  9. I love Arrested Development and was very sorry to see it go. I wouldn’t watch it on MSN or iTunes, though, because it wouldn’t be as much fun. I do have to say that the bashing of Microsoft is getting a little old. Mac and Linux users seem to be angry because Microsoft is successfull. That does not seem very fair. They have a superior product, and if you argue that point back it up with the 90% of the world’s computers justification. Argue the monopoly and you are just getting pathetic. Mac sells OSX with Safari and iLife built in but it is evil if Microsoft ships Windows with IE and WMP? That doesn’t make sense. If it wasn’t MS, Mac or Linux would be number 1 and you would just be complaing about that company and its products.
