“The official European Trademarks and Designs office has revealed some very interesting new iPod designs filed by Apple in January 2006. All of the designs that were found, list Andre K. Bartley as the official designer. All of the designs were officially published on March 14, 2006 and carry a priority date of August 24, 2005. Apple’s listed representative is officially Urquhart-Dykes & Lord LLP – of Leeds, United Kingdom,” Neo reports for Macsimum News.
“Unfortunately, due to the fact that the illustrations are from the European Trademarks and Designs Office and not from the EU’s Patent Office, there aren’t any traditional patent-like details to report on describing the functionality of any of the new embodiments below,” Neo reports.
Neo reports, “On the other hand, what I think can be derived from reviewing these new illustrations, at least for starters, is that there’s a possible new and potentially huge trend that could be emerging here in light of the new Apple + Nike joint-venture that was announced in May. Here, Apple customized a specialty iPod nano to work Nike’s Air Zoom Moire runners, which are marketed as the first footwear designed “to talk to iPod.” Could there be more joint ventures like this in the wings?”
See the illustrations that may show iPod nano mobile phone, iPod nano game controller, and more in the full article here.
MacDailyNews Note: At the Nike+iPod Sport Kit launch, Nike CEO Mark Parker and Apple CEO Steve Jobs stated that the product was “just the beginning.” It’s hard to imagine that Jobs wouldn’t also be lining up other partners for extending the iPod platform is various other directions.

But where is the click wheel?
click wheel, smick wheel
I want HD capable wireless output so I can play songs through my huge stereo system and watch movies with the iPod in my hands acting as a remote while it streams to my 50 inch widescreen HDTV!
MW – trouble (yeah, I know, I know)
BuriedCaesar,
That would be pretty damn sweet.
some of the illustrations substitutions for the click wheel look like the iriver abd Toshiba’s Gigabit….as for the remote one and fingerprint thing, please- that’s too complicated to be an iPod…perhaps a new Apple remote?
Without knowing what they’re really for, most of those don’t look very viable to me… and not as well designed as Apple’s usual product design.

ANY nano works with Nike.
It is also important for Apple to release an iPod SDK so that corporations and developers can extend existing iPods to specialized applications. That is a great way to build up the iPod ecosystem to defend Apple’s franchise from the assault of the wannabe “iPod killers.”
This one looks too much like creative’s “Zen Vision M”, I think…

How the hell do you carry a 50inch Plasma while jogging in your Nike’s?
I agree that with a 50inch Plasma, you want it wireless, cause jogging with wires seems like a dumb idea…
Bluefine – just the mental image of that made me snort my soda – gotta keep from reading MDN and drinking something at the same time.
Of course, what you’re suggesting could become the new boombox craze that’ll sweep the nation!
