BeLight Software has released freeware Image Tricks v2.0, a new version of their image generator that uses Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger’s Core Image technology to generate visual effects to digital images. Image Tricks is used to generate backgrounds, Web design illustrations, print graphics and more using about 40 different Core Image-based effects and filters. Eleven different image generators are included in the free version, while a $9.95 Pro version adds six additional image generators. About 30 masks can be applied to an image.
Image Tricks can export the graphics to TIFF, JPEG, PDF, PNG and GIF image formats. Its also capable of integrating with Apples iPhoto software, and is a Universal Binary for Intel and PowerPC-based Macs.

Given this little app a spin. Seems to work well and produces some entertaining results. Whether we’ll really use them or not is another matter.

I tried it – it’s fun! Especially the Kaleidoscope effect, which has no counterpart in Photoshop.
Awesome! I loved version 1 – good to see a version 2. And it’s the best kind of software – freeware!
