  1. At this update rate Apple is going to run out of numbers before it’s ready to release X.5. Unless, of course, they move UP the release from mid 2007 to late 2006. Wouldn’t THAT be a killer!!!!

  2. For the rest of us stuck without broadband…
It’d be really, REALLY nice if we could get these updates on CD from the retail Apple Stores.

I’d happily PAY Apple $15 for updates on CD. Apple would make at least $12 on the deal, and it’d save users hours of d/l time. How about it?

  3. How many iMACs does Apple have to sell in order to call it a success ? ( in 1st quarter of 2006 )

    1million?
    2?
    3?

We can bet that californians are into luxury stuff, they are likely to be purchasing iMACs,

what other states? New york? maybe?

I think the luxury-addicts in california themselves could give enough iMAC sales to APPLE.

  4. the reboot took forever and a day, as usual after system wide updates… but the really weird part was after doing a ‘repair permissions’ right after, there was not One repaired. coolio, I guess.

They can’t run out of numbers. It isn’t decimal. 1.4.9 would be followed by 1.4.10 and 1.4.11 and 1.4.12…

  6. so far so good except iDisk
Uploading an 8 MB file took roughly 15 minutes (cable broadband) with the usual and useless “File Copied. Closing Please wait” message for feedback.
Ejecting the iDisk is still slow alas.

  7. -,

You certainly win the minimalist of the year award, but that’s beside the fact. Yes, if you just did a clean install of OS X, then download the combo update from Apple’s website and run it. Your system will then be 10.4.6.
