Please let this be true! My 3G iPod was stolen a month ago along with my car. Got the car back two days later but the iPod is gone forever (despite being engraved with my name & website). I’ve been waiting to replace the iPod to see what the next great thing will be.

My Chinese is not very good, but better than Googles. I am not quite shure the site is even claiming this is a “real” ipod. I beleive it is saying more along the line of this is what a lifestyle ipod could be. But again, my chinese is not very good.

Here is why I think this is real.
The sticker has a part number starting with M8. Most newer apple parts are labeled with numbers starting M8.
The chinese character is the same in this image and in the earlier 5G iPod image that was leaked.
The only thing I don’t know is what that big-ass cable on the right hand side is. If someone can read Mandarin please let us know what the carboard over the plug says.

For those complaining that the cord has two parts, to me it looks very similar to the old USB+Firewire cords. I have one of these somewhere and it has two separate white cords coming out of the connector. In this photo it appears that the two cords are connected to each other (like a lamp cord) but you can only really see a tiny portion of the cord.
This doesn’t prove much about the product being real or fake, but at least the cord may be legit.

Don’t know if this has been posted yet (sorry if it has been but I didn’t have time to read all of the posts above), but the bottom picture is definitely a fake. Aside from the wrong application versions, look how they are set up alphabetically. There is a scroll bar on the right-hand side. Safari is the last one seen on the screen. The size of the scroll bar indicates that there are probably another 6 apps on the screen that we can’t see. Can anyone think of 6 apps that would appear after Safari alphabetically that Apple could include on this? I can’t. The top photo may be real, though.

In the 163.com article, between the picture and the specs is a line of text that translates to: “conceptual (or imaginary) rendering”. The article is not saying this is what they expect Apple to release. They’re just saying this would be nice to have. Notice the date of the article, 2004.
In the first article, totally fake. The white cord is clearly a power cord. No way Apple would clunker it up with an AV cable that looks so ugly and thick. And in both instances, no way Steve allows an Apple product out the door without at least a tiny Apple logo on the front.
Chinese Reader: Although I have no clue whether the image is real or not, it seems to me the large cable could be something used for testing only.
And as far as an Apple logo on the front, the current iPods have the logo on the back.
I wonder whether people think the product in the image is the same size as a current 5G iPod? Assuming the connector on the side is the same size as a current iPod dock connector, it looks to me to be the same width and length as the 5G…
