iPod meat?

“Rachel Cambra couldn’t wait to see the look on her 14-year-old son’s face when he opened a very special present on Christmas morning. The Mililani, Hawaii, woman had saved up to surprise her son with what he wanted most for the holiday, a new Apple iPod with video,” ABC News reports. “Surprised he was, and so was Cambra. When her son opened the box for the high-tech toy, he discovered the iPod that should have been there wasn’t. It had apparently been replaced with some kind of mystery meat.”

“Cambra says the box was sealed and that it didn’t appear to have been tampered with when she brought it home from the Honolulu Wal-Mart where she works,” ABC News reports. The meat in question “appeared to be some kind of sealed fish or meat product, certainly not a state-of-the-art MP3 player… Dan Fogleman, a spokesman for Wal-Mart, said it did appear that the package was sealed and has contacted Apple about the matter. He says Cambra will be given a new iPod for her son from the very next shipment the store receives.”

Don’t complain too much Cambras, you got a nice free snack for your trouble! There’s really nothing quite like mysterious sealed “meat” stuffed inside an iPod box that once graced the shelves of a Wal-Mart (however briefly). Yum!(1)

How much would you pay for the video tape showing the look on her 14-year-old son’s face when he opened his “very special present” on Christmas morning? We imagine it’d show a slightly milder reaction than those of people opening Christmas presents to find a Creative, iRiver, Dell, or Sony thing instead of the Apple iPod they wanted.

  3. It is most likely to be Wal-Mart fault then Apple. My friend worked at Wal-mart in his college year, so I know that theft is very common there. Especially, this lady put her stuff in layaway where many Wal-Mart employers have easy access. Break room, office hall way, and anywhere that is not on the store floor are several of the place to put layaway items. Many items put in layaway even before Thanksgiving that by Christmas time there is only small space for employee to walk to the office, restroom, and break room. I believe there is ninety-nine percent chance her iPod some how jump of the box there.

  4. WalMart? It could be so many things. I mean, it could even be another customer who returned the iPod after removing it, and putting something with a little weight in its place.

Have you ever returned stuff to WalMart? They just stick it right back on the shelf; regardless of the reason for the return.
