Apple late yesterday released iTunes 5.0.1 which features several stability improvements. iTunes 5 features a new even more powerful instant search, including the new Search Bar which helps you find exactly what you are looking for in iTunes or from among 2 million songs on the Music Store, folders for organizing playlists, and new Parental Controls for music, music sharing and podcasts.
iTunes 5.0.1 is available via Mac OS X Software Update and also as a standalone installer (13.8MB). More info and download link here.
A couple of days delay in reporting this. Why bother.
GrapeGraphics,
Fsckface, it was released last night and I didn’t know about it until I read it on MDN. Gee, duh, that must be why MDN bothered to note it.
Your attitude and lie (“couple of days”) force me to state the obvious: Go fsck yourself.
Dear informed,
So GrapeGraphics was wrong, big deal. So when you make a mistake you then get abused. Maybe you should just point out the error and move on.
So this is the net in the twentieth first century…anonymous abuse.
Hey bikersrule!!! Go FSCK yourself!!! (-;
Released via software update Sept 19th/2005. Released as the stand alone yesterday morning.
My attitude is fine ‘Ms. Informed,’ but you really need to get back on lithium (or, at least get some therapy).
Have a real happy day
FYI, my software update which checks daily, didn’t make me aware of this update until this morning.
Gee highly uncalled for name calling today. Anyway I hope this update helps a lot of people. No problems so far with for me.
I wish to complain about everything!
Including anyone who doesn’t like my complaints!
I know you are but what am I?
Complain, complain, waah!
GrapeGraphics,
You said:
“Released via software update Sept 19th/2005. Released as the stand alone yesterday morning.”
Maybe version 5.0 on the 19th and 5.1 yesterday?

I prefer to insult (where justified) without the abuse or need for vulgarity.
Please don’t use my nick if your 2 cents worth is only some lame insult.
Also, I don’t rely on MDN for my breaking news. I come here to see how the overzealous are reacting to the tiny ebbs and flows of the mac world.
Thank you in advance for refraining from using my nick.
play nice kiddies!…
My software update wanted me to do it. But I didn’t even bother to look.
I clicked MDN link and looked at system reqs. Hey, whaddya know?
I’m running OS X 10.2.8! They still care!
still no lyric search!!!
iTunes will probably never have a lyric search due to the copyright issues involved.
I hope it fixed the “Damaged Library” problem. Out of all the info I lost when that happened, the worst was the video podcast subscription from that guy who posted various Apple commercials, etc. on his podcast. I looked all over for it yesterday but I can’t remember what it was called or what the guy’s name was. Anyone know what I’m talking about?
I use Google to search for lyrics. Wha’s the big whoop?
Apple always (I think, please don’t flame me if I’m wrong
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” /> releases the standalone before the auto Software Update. This way the smart tech geeks (geeks in a nice smart way) who like to be the first on their virtual block to try it out new cool stuff can do so as kind of a final test before it is released to the novice public who don’t like surprises via Software Update.
Very smart! I’ll tryout new stuff when I’m interested and I have the time. When I don’t, I appreciate it when others do so.
Let me take this opportunity to say THANKS! to all those who take the time to try out the new stuff so the rest of us have a better experience.

You Mac people are so f-ing rude…
If it’s lyrics ya want, check out “pearLyrics”. This program gets the lyrics to any song iTunes is currently playing and pastes them into the new lyrics tab in iTunes 5.0. Very cool indeed!
