Apple has released Java 1.3.1 and 1.4.2 Release 2 which, according to the company’s notes, “delivers improved reliability and compatibility for Java on Mac OS X v10.4. This release includes Java 2 Platform Standard Edition versions 1.3.1_16 and 1.4.2_09.”
The 45.3MB download is available via Mac OS X’s Software Update. More info and standalone installer here.

Downloaded it last night. Also notice that apple has posted a reinstaller for quicktime 7.0.1 but no information is given as to why. About 2 nights ago someone sent me a couple of files when i tried opening then real player was telling me that it cannot open the files because of the version of quicktime installed on my system.
any body out there knows what going on here
Apple has a Java 5.0SE release candidate update for Tiger. I don’t know about its stability.
Whats the difference between 1.4.2 and 5.0 (aka: 1.5) ??
update went perfect. Fixed an annoying bug with Dundjinni where the program would make duplicate menu sets across the entire top of the screen every time you started a new map.
Dundjinni is an awesome photo-realistic java based RPG mapping program (http://www.dundjinni.com)
