ABC News and NBC News announce plans to offer podcasts

“ABC News and NBC News announced plans Tuesday (May 24) to offer podcasts, the rapidly growing mobile technology,’ Paul J. Gough reports for The Hollywood Reporter.

“ABC News launched its podcast through its Web site, ABCNews.com, offering immediately a combination of original and repurposed content. Among the original content will be ‘The AfterNote,’ a two- to three-minute wrapup of the daily’s political news modeled on ABC News’ blog ‘The Note.’ There also is original material and segments from such ABC News shows as ‘Nightline’ and ‘Good Morning America,'” Gough reports

“NBC News’ podcasts will be available in June on MSNBC.com, with initial efforts to be repurposed content, according to NBC News Internet and technology consultant Jeff Gralnick. That includes hourly updates from NBC, clips from shows like ‘Today’ and headlines from MSNBC.com, as well as clips from interviews on ‘Hardball’ and the top story from MSNBC’s ‘Countdown.’ He said that original NBC/MSNBC podcasts would be available soon,” Gough reports. “On Tuesday, Apple announced that the next version of its iTunes software will include podcasting and podcatching capabilities, a move that is expected to encourage the medium’s growth.”

  1. MDN? Podcatching, I understood. Where’s the Podcasting part? You mean sending up for listing, I guess eh? We’re not going to get line-in capabilities in iTunes 4.9, are we?

  2. Wow, for years news and radio shows could easily have just made their broadcasts available in mp3 format. Now that podcasting is cool, its all the rage. Amazing.

Will MSNBC make their stuff available only in wma format?

  3. news shows?

Well ‘Huh?” not exacly NEWS… more like a watered down version of just the good stuff the Bushies want you to hear and know about. But news… like the secret memo located by the BBC saying they would shape the intelligence to what the needs were for the war in Iraq? LOL well no… of course not news like THAT!

I gave up all corporate broadcast news last fall they ALL suck… haven’t looked back.
