Thirst Toast!
what does this mean right now
Tiger required !!!!
It means that my PB 550 is outdated and that I need to buy a new computer to take advantage of all this new techno.
Didn’t Sony and Toshiba just agree to scrap HD-DVD for Blu-Ray hardware with Toshiba processing?
By the way, Under requirements, shouldn’t it say DVD drive.
Software update has yet to work for me in Tiger. I hope this is one of the bugs they’ve fixed in 10.4.1
Anyway, DVD Player 4.6 is working just fine.
Apple Intermediate Codec is also in Software Update
download window show it’s downloading and stops at 8.6 (full download). so far it’s still hang.
Escaport: As far as I’m aware, that was a false report, since denied by both companies.
I’m having my doubts about Tiger’s Software Update. The “Intermediate Codec” showed up, but nothing for this DVD player update, nor iTunes. There is apparently a “Pro Apps” interface update as reported on MacNN, nothing showing up there either, yet I have Logic Pro installed and it’s one of the apps targeted by the update.
In my most flattering take, I’ll say that the Apple Update mechanism has introduced a random timer that delays the availability of updates to lessen the initial load on the update servers.
My other opinion is that it’s just broke.
I agree – software update does seem to be broke.
It is yet to find iTunes 4.8 as well as the DVD Player
It’s bothering me that Apple is pushing all of this HD technology but if I buy their very best Powerbook (Around $3000) I can’t play HD Content (G5 Required)!?!?! We need a Powerbook Update BADLY!! Although I did just ordered a new 20″ iMac and I can’t wait to experience the G5! Later!
Software Update works just fine for me. For whatever reason, Apple don’t seem to have posted iTunes 4.8 or DVD Player 4.6 on Software Update – you have to go to apple.com/support/downloads for them.
