  1. I’m having my doubts about Tiger’s Software Update. The “Intermediate Codec” showed up, but nothing for this DVD player update, nor iTunes. There is apparently a “Pro Apps” interface update as reported on MacNN, nothing showing up there either, yet I have Logic Pro installed and it’s one of the apps targeted by the update.
In my most flattering take, I’ll say that the Apple Update mechanism has introduced a random timer that delays the availability of updates to lessen the initial load on the update servers.

My other opinion is that it’s just broke.

  2. It’s bothering me that Apple is pushing all of this HD technology but if I buy their very best Powerbook (Around $3000) I can’t play HD Content (G5 Required)!?!?! We need a Powerbook Update BADLY!! Although I did just ordered a new 20″ iMac and I can’t wait to experience the G5! Later!

  3. Software Update works just fine for me. For whatever reason, Apple don’t seem to have posted iTunes 4.8 or DVD Player 4.6 on Software Update – you have to go to apple.com/support/downloads for them.
