Bare Bones Software releases BBEdit 8.2 with integrated Automator Actions for Mac OS X Tiger

Bare Bones Software today announced the release and immediate availability of BBEdit 8.2, the latest version of the award-winning HTML and text editor for the Macintosh. BBEdit 8.2 now includes support for Automator, the new personal automation assistant in Mac OS X 10.4 (‘Tiger’) that simplifies repetitive or time-consuming tasks.

BBEdit 8.2 provides customers running Tiger with integrated Automator Actions that facilitate the incorporation of BBEdit’s renowned text processing abilities into any Automator multi-application workflow.

“Bare Bones Software has always produced power tools with leading-edge capabilities and strong automation ability,” said Rich
Siegel, founder and CEO of Bare Bones Software, Inc. in the press release. “The Automator support in BBEdit 8.2 makes BBEdit’s legendary text transformation power available for an even wider variety of tasks. Automator is an amazing technology, and we’re excited to welcome it to the party.”

“Automator is one of my favorite new features in Tiger,” explained John Gruber, beta tester, technical writer and host of daringfireball.net in the press release. “It’s a feature that lives up to its billing — people really can use it to automate repetitive tasks, without having to write their own scripts. It’s great, and not the least bit surprising, to see Bare Bones Software providing support for Automator from day one.”

BBEdit 8.2 is also a maintenance release to fix reported issues and add minor refinements and is a recommended update for all BBEdit 8 customers, including those running Mac OS X 10.3.x.

BBEdit 8.2 requires Mac OS X 10.3.5 or later. The BBEdit 8.2 update is available free of charge to all registered BBEdit 8 customers. An update package is available for download from the Bare Bones Software web site:
