Fetch 5.0 beta now available, Fetch Softworks invites beta testers

“Fetch Softworks announced this morning that Fetch 5.0, the latest version of the popular file transfer client for Mac, has entered beta testing. Fetch 4.0 was among the first FTP clients to support Mac OS X, and is the most downloaded FTP client for the Mac, according to the developer. Fetch 5.0 adds SFTP support, improved server and firewall compatibility, and a completely rewritten user interface emphasizing simplicity and ease of use.Users interested in beta-testing Fetch 5.0 can apply at the Fetch Softworks website,” MacNN reports.

We are looking for Fetch users to try beta versions of our new release, Fetch 5.0, and give us feedback that we can use to polish the program for its official release. You will need to be running Mac OS X 10.2.4 or later, and be willing to try each release and provide feedback on your experiences. Beta testers who provide feedback will receive a free license to Fetch 5.

  1. I’ve been using Transmit by Panic Software for awhile now. Don’t really see any reason to switch back. Although the dog is cooler than the semi.

  2. Try to upload more than 10 files at a time with Transmit and you’ll find its fatal flaw – it doesn’t actually speak FTP very well.

    Otherwise, a fine program, but Fetch is infinitely more reliable.

  3. I just got an e-mail back from the Fetch folks, they are no longer taking beta applications, but they did give me a discount on Fetch 4 and free upgrade to v. 5.
