Die Welt: U.S President George Bush is ‘the Steve Jobs of World Politics’

“US President George W. Bush is safely back in America, but commentators continue to ponder the last leg of his European visit — his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin,” SPIEGEL ONLINE reports. “Specifically, they ask, who holds the real power? Is Bush kowtowing to Moscow or does Moscow have to kneel at the feet of the world’s only remaining superpower?”

“The conservative Die Welt comes up with the day’s oddest and most weirdly thought-out editorial in which the author manages to both compare Bush to Franklin D. Roosevelt and to crown him ‘the Steve Jobs of world politics.’ Essentially, the paper says, Bush wants to be a great reformer, both in terms of domestic and foreign politics. Domestically, he wants to revamp America to the same degree FDR did with his New Deal, only for Bush, the program might be called the ‘Ownership Society,’ the paper says. ‘The target is: We want to break with all losers, domestically that means the Roosevelt social state, internationally with all states that have anything to do with terror. The new plan involves marketing, surprises, big design overhauls.’ As such, says the paper, Bush is like the endlessly creative (and fabulously wealthy) founder of Apple Computer, Steve Jobs,” SPIEGEL ONLINE reports.

  1. Okay Alan, name one successful Bush initiative… Even marginal CEOs have at least one accomplishment beyond getting the position. Jobs has a number of hits that even his critics acknowledge. For the life of me I can’t think of one thing Bush and crew have done that meet even their success criteria. Bring facts!

  2. Put them both in a Mothra movie and see the difference:

Steve Jobs would not only be trying to free the poor fairies, he would be designing a miniature Mac so they could compose songs to Mothra.

Bush would be president of Rolithica, the world’s sole superpower. He would not only support Nelson’s kidnapping of the fairies and murder of Mothra’s people, he would be threatening to regime change Japan if they didn’t protect Nelson from the “terrorist” Mothra.

As for Mothra, well I think the monster of peace can tell the difference between Steve Jobs and Bush just fine.

That Mac Mini sure does look good though. I can’t wait to see how the movie ends. Pass the popcorn. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

  3. with this and the lame ass cable-gate yesterday, it’s becoming increasingly obvious MDN is more interested in getting hits via manufactured controversy than actually reporting on worthwhile mac news. it’s pathetic.

    adios.

  4. There are some rather striking differences between Steve and George:

    1) Steve is not retarded
    2) Steve is a successful business man
    3) Steve has public speaking abilities
    4) Steve has long-term planning skills

  5. Die Welt is a far right conservative paper not worth reading, it´s just disgusting. I never read anything mor ridiculous (and there are many ridiculous things happening here in Germany)

But thinking about it – maybe they thought of the famous reality distortion field which GWB obviously has like SJ

  6. Keep bashing Bush Eurotrash losers. Citzen Dense, why don’t you go take a stroll in the middle east and see how long you keep your head attached jack ass. Keep defending terrorist, cave men, animals. They’ll turn on you immediately. The US will just keep plugging away protecting you pussies! I wish we wouldn’t but it’s not that easy. You people suck.

  7. When you take away someone’s guns and wealth what do they have left to be so high and mighty about? Humanity? Integrity? Respect? Compassion? I didn’t realize these belonged to a select few.
