  1. it ain’t going to fix the popunder thingy because that happens on all versions of mac os x, and the security update is only for systems with java 1.4.2, which can only be installed on panther

Note: You will lose more readers than you gain in cash.

  3. If you have popunders, just disable popups in safari. Firefox does it automatically. If you’re using IE for mac, please for the love of god use a browser that’s actually supported.

If you’re using Winders, try firefox. And I think XP SP2 has popup blocking built in.

  4. Dingis…
Have you not read any Mac news in the last week or so? The whole point is that these pop-unders are occurring even WITH the default pop-up blockers in Firefox and Safari enabled. (I suppose that the pop-up blockers are working perfectly, in a manner of speaking. The problem is pop-UNDERS…)

  5. Geez, folks, have a little patience. They’re working on it – if this latest update from Apple has any effect, MDN’ll make it stick. If getting a popunder is the worst of your internet experience, count yourself lucky. Just close the silly window (using Apple-W perhaps?) and move on…

  6. Good God folks! Get a friggin grip! They said they are testing. Give the poor MDN folks a break and help by simply reporting your results instead of crying like little babies. They totally disabled it for a while showing they *do* respect the users. Activating it occasionally for testing Iwhile saying so no less) is hardly life threatening and if you can’t take that much then go use a WinBlows box for a few days and come back – life will look so much better after being in hell.

  7. I come to this site a few times a day and I have never seen a pop up or under. Right now I’m running 10.3.8 Safari 1.2.4 (v125.12) with plug-ins, Java and cookies turned off. JavaScript and block pop up windows is turned on.

Maybe this info will help y’all in finding out why it’s happening.

  8. >If MDN doesn’t stop it with the pop unders I’m going to stop visiting the site.

    >for fcuk sake MDN – you took care of this already and now they’re back. STOP IT WITH THE MOFO POP-UPS/UNDERS/SIDEWAYS

    Grow up people!

  9. So you guys say you’ll stop coming to this site if the pop up adds persist?

I dare you to live up to that. I dare you to never come back to this site and never post here again if you see another pop up/under.

    I dare you.

  10. MDN: You want us to have patience while you test new ways to irritate us?!!!

So, are you saying that we may be more irritated than usual, but it will all get better soon, and we just have to wait to be irritated a bit less?

“Sorry for beating you in the head so hard. We have a new hammer and don’t have brain-beating perfected yet. Please, allow us time to adjust to the new hammer. So, if you feel like you are being beaten extraordinarily hard, just accept it and don’t complain to us, we promise it might be a slightly less sometime in the future. Thank you for your support.”

    Gee, thanks!! That’s really comforting.

…and you have no clue why your readers are so pissed off?!
    Are you guys fsckin’ psycho?!!!

    Here’s an idea… STOP!!!!

I guess the only ones more psycho are the (allegedly real) posters saying “Yea, okay, smack away! I love a good head bashing, Why is everyone complaining?” These people have either been hit too hard too often or they are fake readers created by MDN to drum up false support for their psycho tactics. Being that these “posters” have the exact same writing style and vocabulary as the MDN comments makes them highly suspect.
