Anti-iPod stickers spring up in New York City

Has the iPod backlash begun? Consider this email from a Curbed reader in Tribeca:

What’s up with all those “iPods Lick Balls” stickers (Black Square with White Arial Font) that I’m seeing in Tribeca? I ripped one down and the next week there was another one up. Is this marketing genius from Sony or Rio?

Curbed has posted a photo of one of the stickers plastered on a light pole here.

  1. I want one balls licking iPod!
    Then I can drop my expensive boyfriend and be single again ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

  2. Not really a big deal – somebody having fun. It’s not a MS conspiracy. Stickers like this pop up all over the place here in NYC. It’s been a growing attitude torward iPods here, in coversation, as well as weekly mags like Time Out New York – iPod zombies that can’t be bothered with public interaction.
You see a lot of white earbuds everyday and some people find it mildly annoying; like when everyone is wearing the same jeans (Seven) or bopping around in the same shoes (UGG boots anyone?) and if you like this sort of funny social commentary you should move to a major metropolitan area, it’s fun.

Midcap’s post is so irrationally apathetic towards anything weird or different, I suspect red-state syndrome… Probably thought the iPod was stupid too. Do you ever do anything fun?

I still have my 1st gen 5gig… Do the new ones REALLY lick balls?
