What’s going on with MacDailyNews.com?

MacDailyNews.com is switching web hosts and undergoing a code rewrite, as well as changing from pMachine to ExpressionEngine for our back end.

In case anyone needs it, the new site lives here:
http://66.160.135.204/

Surfing to http://www.macdailynews.com/ or http://66.160.135.204/ may bring you to either the old site’s server or the new site’s servers for a day or so. We will be adding identical articles to both sites for a while until the domain name propagates everywhere. Your comments, though, will be different on both sites through Friday – if you want to guarantee that your comments will survive on the new site, please use http://66.160.135.204/ to visit MacDailyNews for the next few days.

MacDailyNews will work the same and look very much the same as it does now – with a few additions we think you’ll like. Surely, you’ll let us know either way, as usual (sorry for calling you Surely).

The site should soon be faster to load and hold up better during future live Apple event coverage. So, as we work the bugs out, thanks for your patience while we make these changes to better accommodate MDN’s rapidly growing traffic.

  1. but will the swap result in better reporting rather than all this ridiculous tabloid style windows bashing?

“MDN Exclusive: Some guy who pushed in front of me in a line was holding a windows laptop!”

First Post!!! Yeah winblows suckz, take that thurrott u suckz!

  2. Are you liking Expression Engine?

I’ve finished my second site with pMpro and I wanted something for myself now, so upgrading to ee made sense to me.

The multilingual formatting and unlimited structure of it are amazing, but for me the only caveats are the lack of photo album (one project has that need) and a more robust text editor. Being able to multi-page responses is something I think I can wedge in too – I think!

What do you think of ee? Worth the update?
