Maine Commissioner holds out hope for Apple laptop program

“The Maine Education Department failed to reach its goal of signing up enough schools to account for 8,400 laptops. That’s the minimum goal for an interim plan to put laptops in some high schools this fall,” The Associated Press reports. “Commissioner Susan Gendron said Monday that she hopes more schools would commit to get the program closer to that goal in the next few days. At the same time, she hopes Apple will lower the minimum level for participation.”

AP reports, “Gendron said she expected to make an announcement after a discussion with Apple officials on Wednesday.”

  1. It can’t be that I have *gasp* something to say about this right off the bat. Hmmm should I be tempted? Well I don’t think so. I just hope that Maine can do it.

  2. it’s nice to see they’re renting at $300 a year or so… that way Apple can actually compete with Dell on price (as.. Macs are said to last longer.. only Mac users know for sure)
